    Don't use blurb.co.uk

Designed a wedding album on their site/app and got it printed.

    I asked for 3 copies.

The first copy - pages were so stuck together the pages ripped.

The second copy - at the end of the book they started printing the entire album again, stopping half way.

The third copy - half way through, someone else's wedding appears for about 10 pages.

    Shower of sh!t.

Sorry to hear it - we've just used it for three albums for parentals etc - came out great.

Apologies for raining on your rant.

Got on bike at work. Cranks would not move. Completely seized bottom bracket. Hit it with a large hammer and some liberal wd40 into the nds and loosened it enough to get home.
At home, replaced the BB, NDS so caked in black, leaking wd40 its dead as a dodo.
Cue 40 mins to replace the BB, meaning cold dinner and annoyed OH/kids.

I've started using a newly installed SUP recently and today there was an HGV parked fully on the pavement and the driver said he'd broken down and he wondered why I got p!$$y with him when the only way past was for me to go into the road and play with oncoming traffic.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Could you not have had your tea first? Thus avoiding the ire of the missus and little 'uns

Just a suggestion, like. I'm on a 'marginal gains' thing at the moment.

Do you not have a second/third bike so you could leave the repair of the broken one until you've got more time ...

I considered leaving it until after tea, but knew that if I didn't do it there and then it would take at least 2 hours before I got out and looked again, and then I didn't know how long it would take to fix, as its the first BB replacement I've ever done myself, and couldn't be without a working bike for the morning.

N+1 is an old MTB, but is currently cable less, which I didn't finish over the weekend...

If you leave it till later, it always takes longer than it should. Always.

My wife was having a good moan the other week when I was fettling with the commuter bike, until she realised that if I didn't get it fixed I'd need the car and she'd have to get the bus.

Yeah, that's exactly what happened with the mtb recable... "I know you need time on the bike, but can you just do X... oh, then can you just do Y ... oh, and I NEED Z and A done for the morning... and can you make me lunch too..." sod, it's 11pm "..

That appears to be what I've done. Didn't want to risk the BB jamming again in the morning or while at work.
Once it had started moving again, the play was "a little" worrying

  • Decided to up the household technology this Christmas, and buy my first Smart TV.

Through a work scheme, I had accumulated some 'Appreciate' points, and could therefore get some John Lewis vouchers - effectively getting the TV for free.

Ordered the vouchers 28 November, and they eventually arrived 2 weeks later. I mean, 2 weeks to post vouchers?
Within 30 minutes of getting the vouchers, I had the TV ordered, on 13 December. But it still has not arrived!

I phone John Lewis, who tell me it has dispatched (on 15 December !!), but give me the tracking number, and phone number to call the freight company ( why should I have to do that ??). I phone the freight company, who tell me it is another part of the company, and tell me to phone another number. So yesterday I phone this other number, and they tell me the package has been handed over to a contractor, who will phone me at 2pm to arrange delivery (how many people are needed to deliver a bl**dy tv). No phone call. I call back again today, and get the same story - I will get a phone call today to arrange delivery.

I finish work in 2 hours for Christmas, and the package is addressed to work - they have someone on reception to receive packages. So I either have a 1980's technology-style Christmas, or I will have to drive into work on Thursday/Friday to pick it up.

Completely reinforces my view of Christmas :cry:

And in January, Civica (or whoever ) will send your workplace a TV licence letter.

Real cop-out by JL - last two I've had from them have arrived on the appointed day on their branded vehicles.

Managed to get on the bike a bit more recently.
I'm sure the cars & vans used to give me more room in the dark, been quite a few dodgy overtakes this week.

Boiler is fecked and the only way I can get it to fire is by closing the air inlet to almost shut, the engineer have finally declared it dead as its putting out 2000x the recommended co2

Not cycling related until I realised that this rather expensive replacement means no summer cycling jolly for me and a fair few less bike related purchases in 2017.

Think I've lost a pair of 3/4 bibs, have been looking for them for the last week or so. Pretty sure I've got two pairs of 365 bibs from Planet X as the last pair I bought were the yellow ones and would have got the red paid first but can't see them amongst my orders so starting to think I haven't actually bought them. In my search I took the bottom drawer of the chest of drawers out but pulled the runner out so that is now kaput and all the tiny bearing in the carpet.

DPD tracking said a parcel was signed for at work, name was correct so I went all through the goods in area looking for it. Nothing. Called them to ask for the scanned copy of the signature to check the driver hadn't faked it and they said the parcel had gone back to the depot. Odd. Next day it was signed for by another of our goods in guys, but he had the day off so I have no idea how he signed for it. But we found the parcel. The driver has taken to signing for them himself rather than wait a few seconds. Phoned to tell them and they told me it was impossible. Must have been the tooth fairy then.
