I got a nasty bee sting on the lip last year on a ride. Was slightly swollen for a couple of days, then became infected and suddenly I had a lilo for a lip. Had to get antibiotics from the Doc, which took it down within hours.

Auto-pause on my Garmin works great. The manual pause is slightly more forgetful. :(

Not got Start notice notification turned on? Mine flashes up a warning saying 'Movement Detected, Start Timer?'

Yup, but I've already started and am not looking down.
I think Garmins should automatically record if you're following a course. I've started a course a few times and it looks like its recording, but it's not.

Its all my fault really, but I need to blame someone else.

Got a bee sting on the ride home last summer at 22:20. I felt something go into the helmet vent and assumed it would sort itself out, if not I would have pulled over and whipped the helmet off. Next thing I know I've been stung with the resulting sharp pain.

I drove to work because I was supposed to be dinghy racing tonight and I can't get to the club in time on my bike ...

now I find out there is no dinghy racing, there never was going to be a race tonight ...

    it's a sunny day and I'll be stuck in a *&&^$*(" car !!

Oh well, it's a 20 minute journey home then I can get the bike out! :D

Disc brakes. Why did I stick my finger by it to fettle it slightly?

I don't need that bit of my nail/half my fingertip do I ?

Did similar on my MTB. Was out riding and it sounded like the disc was loose so when I stopped I pushed the disc with my finger. It was a very warm and not loose and a burnt finger.

It's on, it's off, it's on and not working, it's on and working... take your guess and take your well-being into your own hands.
Why is it there anyway and how much does it cost to keep repairing when it gets taken out every other week?

I had a google for finger injury disc brake and come across a thread on single track. If you haven't eaten recently, take a look. My finger is still on, had I been spinning the wheel quick that's exactly what would have happened. Same angle and everything!

To be fair you'll achieve a similar effect if you stick your finger in your spokes at speed. Indeed the cut will be far more messy as well.

yeah...in a crash on a descent the brake discs will be so hot they'll cauterize the wound as well...so it's all good.

Well I obviously was keeping my eyes on the road, and just reached where it felt like it should be and before I know it I hear / feel the tips of my gloves getting whipped... dunno why I reached so far forward but I think I did it again at some point ...

I did it with my foot when I was about 6. Just to see what happened. I reckon I made it about 15 feet in the air ;)

Almost taken out this morning by a SMIDSY at 23mph, went to talk to the driver and he was ashen, I think it scared him as much as me. He apologised profusely and we went on our ways, which was just as well, as he was built like the proverbial brick ...house

Not that often you hear of this that close to home, really makes you think when it's so close and somewhere I've cycled many a time on the commutes.

Some serious 'roid rage from a Merc / limo driver outside Westminster station this morning.

Initially knocked on his window to announce my presence in the lane he was veering into (naturally without any indicators) as we came off Parliament Square. He immediately blew a gasket, veered right across me, opened his window and spat on me. He was in a proper roid/cokehead rage though, f'ing and blinding and asking to pull over for a fight...have to say that the pulsing vein on his temple wasn't tempting me into any altercations. It was at that point, just coming up to Westminster tube, (we were still moving along this whole time) that he knocked into a cyclist on his left, as he wasn't looking anywhere but at me, on his right.

People getting off the tube were just standing in awe at his rage, it was a ridiculous display. And not a policeman in sight either...typical, they're usually all over the place by HoP.

Anyway, tweeted Met Police. Sadly no sign of who he worked for on the car, as would love to send a polite email to his employers

Left the house, chilly. But blue skies.

15 miles into commute, wall of cloud overhead. Temps plummet.

Took half hour for the goose bumps to go away.

  • Stopped about 3 mins into my commute to swap the mitts for full finger gloves and put a s/s jersey on top of my L/S jersey...was a bit chilly today, but thankfully it seemed to have scared the nodders off.

Torn ACL. That explains why my knee's a bit hurty.

    Waiting on physio/MRI stuff.

    Had to drive in today.

From my survey of Addison Lee drivers today (3, taxis and couriers), it appears that the company has disabled all indicators for their fleet.

There was another twat who completely cut me up, changed lanes in front of me without indicating an I was an inch or 2 from hitting, who then gave me the finger.

Cyclists also got on my wick today. When you're at a traffic light by Parliament Square, in the middle of the lane, that is not the time to get your phone out to take a photo of big ben, especially when the lights have already gone green.
