  • I've had to endure far too much work today due to the forum being down.
I hadn't spotted the notice posted yesterday informing us of such, so when I logged on this morning to get my daily fix, I was greeted with a message saying the forum would be up around 4pm!

Total f*cking a*sewipe in a Vectra decided that he didn't have to wait for me and could just pass the cars parked on his side of the road. Caused me to skid to a halt (not checked how many studs are missing) and swerve out the way. I was so incensed by what he did, for the first time ever I gave chase.

Caught him parked up further in the estate where he denied that he did anything wrong, that there was plenty of room and then shoved the car door at me. The point when I mentioned he was on film was the point he disappeared 'round the other side of the car.

Going to check the footage tonight to see how clear it is... if it's sufficient I'll be filling the form in again.

To the busy body at Catford Bridge this morning, please feel free to fuck off.

As I ride up to the corner to pass under the bridge (coming from the Halfords side) I hear the shout of "oi, slow down you fucking idiot". As I had slowed and am always cautious through there I stopped to enquire as to his problem (possibly a little on the loud side, but he'd annoyed me).

He shouts in my face that I was being dangerous and couldn't possibly have stopped in time to avoid an old lady if she happened to be just around the corner. After I pointed out the sheer stupidity of this statement (I had stopped, in response to his shout, before the point I apparently couldn't stop before), he got all mouthy and aggressive. Ashamed to say I got all shouty back, told him he was an ignorant old git, pointed out the fact that I have a gopro on my head precisely because I'm a conscientious cyclist and could prove his idiotic statement false, then road off.

Still can't make my mind up whether I should have ignored him, but his assertions were so much bullshit I felt I had to say something.

Hmmm I had a similar run in yesterday with a chav in a vectra, near Bilborough College (not sure where in Derbyshire you are, but that's close enough).

He cut in front of me as I was coming to red lights, then moved back into lane 2, I went to filter and he turned in on me. I went to the drivers side to ask his problem (slightly less kindly) and he tried getting out, but couldn't because I was there.

Not been on the bike all week due to various work related events, and and now the rear hub is making an almighty grating noise... great.

at least it gives me something to fix (make worse) this weekend

That's why it's a good idea to shift into the big ring before doing anything like that...

    People who jump backwards.

Riding along a shared path (okay... River path) and lady walking her dog (i-ped, got the headphones on). I come rumbling up behind lighting the way with the magicshine. She's cutting right to left, I aim for the right of her (behind her) and she sees me.. Steps forward as I swerve right and then she jumps BACK into my path apologising and then jumps out of the way... sigh.

First time for everything, been cycling for 15+ years and commuting in London daily for 3 and got hit by a car today.

2 minutes into my ride heading to Richmond Park along CS7 and at a junction before Stockwell, I approached a junction on green, im going straight on, car waiting to turn right, decides they will turn right, im going about 25mph, slowed to about 12-14mph once I realised she had committed!

I decided to skid and hit her parallel on the passenger side rather then me going head on into her, battered into the car fell and she then went over my fingers, took a fair chunk of skin off me pinky.

Dusted myself off, all in one piece - check, pick up bike, its fine, not a scratch - check. She came over after pulling up just up the road, she was in a bit of a state, young woman, shaking and crying, I wasn't angry or in shock at all, I calmed her down and reassured her. Got witness details then hers. Gave her the lecture of looking and looking again! I even had a bright front flashing light...........

Anyway, got my 3 laps of RP in, ass cheek is a little sore but no visible bruising, finger will heal. So yea, great day!

Slow flow from the cold tap in the bathroom sink so last week bought some tap washers. Started the job, put a new washer in the tap and turned the water back on and no water flow stripped tap down to re-use old washer. Reassembled tap with slow flow which means tap corroded inside so new taps for sink and the faff and expense that goes with replacing them, along with finding time.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

On approach to the airport in the centre of Milan and the plane in front of us has a 'small crash' and we have to abort and get diverted to the other airport. Instead of getting to the office at 12.30 I get here at 14.30, the exact time my presentation starts. Hungry, thirsty and flustered.

Still, could have been worse, I could have been on the plane that crashed.

Don't' expect me to be impressed when you hop onto the pavement to avoid the traffic that a number of us happily filter through. Also don't expect me to let you cut me up when hopping back onto the road. Tw@.

What do drivers expect is going to happen if they queue all the way through the junction even after the lights have changed? And even join the queue after they've gone red. Was like that at almost every bridge junction along Embankment last night. Morons

Had similar this morning - not that she was turning off though ...

coming down an 8% gradient I quite naturally pick up speed to >35mph - it's a delimit so fair for someone to overtake me providing it's safe to do so - the car doesn't come past ...

instead they wait until we're 100 yards off the 30 limit sign and a car coming the other way before she starts her "drift slowly past me" manoeuvre .... and then proceeds to sit just in front of me taking up all my buffer space.

I think I'm going to have to refit my GoPro ...

Left the wheels in a state after a ~700 mile round trip hanging off the back of the car on salted motorways.

    Never again.

Well the ones that Canyon supplied are just Bluemels, but looks like the mudguard stays are slightly bent rather than the normal shape.

Front one was fine. Rear seems a bastard to fit. The stays are barely long enough to hold the mudguards away from the tyres (at least with 32's). Considering getting some of the Secuclips that they normally use on the front to give the stays a bit more length.

Ah, I'm only using 25mm tyres. If I put knobbly tyres on I'll take the guards off

I thought that you were fitting them because you were still waiting on parts.
