I now have 2 bikes at work. The first has a knackered headset, replacement on my desk, while the second I discovered on the way to work has a knackered front wheel bearing.
I haven't been able to get away from my desk for long enough to fix either of them. I'm stuck here on the phone with a customer faffing about trying to decide what he wants. Doesn't he know I need to fix my bicycle?0 -
DECT headsets are your friend - I can't live without one when I'm in the office.
Merrily nattering to customers whilst making coffee, ambling around the office, stepping out onto the lawn when it's sunny etc.
Unfortunately (and I have checked) the rangeis not quite good enough to operate from the pub beer garden down the road.FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits

I have a wired headset. I'm often posting on here when taking an order if the customer is a bit slow, they probably all think I'm a bit deaf as I keep having to ask them to repeat stuff because I'm not concentrating..0

chain snapped right in the city on the way home yesterday afternoon, luckily it was pulling away from traffic lights, still made a spectacular fall though, with me trying to get off the floor and the cabbies beeping their horns behind because I have held them up :twisted:Sorry its not me it's the bike ;o)

Mr Policeman motorcyclist, I've no problem with you overtaking stationary traffic... just leave the ASL at the front clear for the actual people it is intended for. 3 times in the space of about a mile you ignored this particular law... it irks me.Hairy-legged roadie ( FCN 4 )

Builders.
Last week I engaged the services of a builder. He was required to put a thin screed onto an unlevel ground floor slab (10m2). He completed the job, but it turned out to be an exact scale model of the Pyrenees. So I told him to come back this week, dig it out and relay. He came yesterday and relaid half of it, to return and complete this morning. This morning I discovered that the RCD on the circuit that supplies the plug sockets in that room (and the boiler) had tripped. I mentioned it to him this morning and told him it must be his fault. He denied it, but accepted that no-one else could have affected it. He's now just come to me and showed me a very small opening he has made in a random part of the floor, right over a bit of the circuit cable that has clearly been cut. Oh what a lucky coincidence! So, in other words, despite denying all knowledge, it turns out that he knew that he had damaged the cable and he knew exactly where that damage was. Now he's suggesting mending the cable with a bit of insulation tape. F***ing cowboy!0 -

Sounds like a cowboy to me! Why is he still in your house? You are not going to pay him in full are you? I'd be tempted to tell him you are getting a Institute of Electrical Engineers registered electrician in to fix his problem and you will knock the price off the bill, unless that is he is registered or can provide someone who is.--

I agree with Sketchley. I certainly wouldn't pay him any more, assumig you haven't paid in full, and would get someone else in to rectumfy the problem. Ask for recommendations.
The above is why I spent last night breaking my back doing DIY rather than paying someone else to do it wrong. That and I'm tight.0 -
3 punctures on way home, just deflated type at home to get rid on c02 pumped it back up and it's gone again....

More to the point, you shouldn't have electrical cables running through your floor slab (unless I've misunderstood something), for exactly the reason described above. It'll be tricky to repair the cable safely in situ without exposing more of the cable. You may find that when you do get a sparks in, he insists on running a new cable from the consumer unit. That of course could turn into quite a big job.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Virgin effing Rail. Thanks for making me fork out £30 for a taxi to get me home at half past midnight because your train was an hour late in when I've got to be up at 6am. And thanks for having your ticket office shut so I can't even get a refund form. This isn't over by a long way....Commute: Chadderton - Sportcity0

Ugh... worst thing of all... she has kids. Kids who will probably be exactly the same if not worse. Government really needs to impose a license to breed.

Hmmm.... Unprotected cable in a floor? Sounds like previous cowboys have already visited.
You did get a electrical survey from a proper sparks and not rely on the mortgage surveyor when you bought it? :roll:0 -

It was personally funded by my pittance of a salary which is funded by the licence fee. So that's why I'll be doubly sure that I'm getting that refund form.

Two years of lobbying to get showers installed. Finally successful a few months ago albeit with no lockers (I pointed out these might be a good idea). This morning some skanky bastard used my towel as there is no locker to protect it from scumbags. Commuting 20 miles through London is made better every day by coming in and having a nice shower, not to find your wet dirty towel on the floor. I will find the CCTV from the ops team and then you're going to get retribution.

A random bottle of shampoo left in the shower room that has been laced with some hair remover. You don't want it to be 100% successful, just to take some hair off :xI've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
Based on the reply i'm starting to think it was someone from ops!

We have checked the CCTV and no one was in there between the times given.
