Someone nicked my hiz viz short sleeve over top today.
I was doing a couple of ahem *hill reps* in epping forest today up mott street. Was warm by the time I got there so left it on the fence at the crossroads. In the ~15mins it took me to get back up on the first rep it was taken!

edit: this being one with london grease grime up both the front & back.

Dear BBC, STOP PUTTING THE SAME SPORT/MATCH ON BOTH OLYMPIC CHANNELS AT THE SAME TIME. I don't care if it's a summary, if it's playing live on one, you don't need a summary as well because anyone interested will be watching it!
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

Did I forget to mention "DEAR VIRGIN DON'T ACCEPT MY ORDER AND GIVE ME A DELIVERY DATE THIS WEEK IF YOU KNOW PERFECTLY WELL YOU WON'T INSTALL UNTIL SEPTEMBER BECAUSE DESPITE NOT BEING ON THE ORN, YOU WILL USE IT AS AN EXCUSE".

    Gah.

Guy on a road bike was annoyed by being overtaken by fat bloke on a Brompton (me) this morning, so sailed through red lights on Whitworth Street West - when I reached the lights at Oxford Street and told him the red lights applied to him too, he just laughed. I should have pushed him off his bike there and then.

RLJers are really getting on my wick these days, I see it as a personal threat to my safety - the last thing I want on my (admittedly short) city commutes is drivers who are p#ssed off with cyclists.

    Hear hear.

I overtook a guy four times on the way home on Monday because he kept jumping lights to re-pass me. Idiot.

it took less than 24 hours - I knew it would happen but ffs less than a day.......mashing up a fairly steep hill on the way into work yesterday morning and baldy ped waiting for his bus says "come on bradley keep going"...I cant really articulate why it pissed me off but its something to do with the fact that I wonder which part of his brain made hime say that and also that had I passed him a week earlier (and given its my regular route I probably did) he would have said nothing....oh and my knees are back so I had to drive in today and its a lovely bright, clear breeze-free day :x

Found out today I didn't get the secondment I applied for. So yes, I'm BBC bashing too, even though they pay my salary every month.

Come one, surely the retort of "Never seen anyone get a medal for catching a bus" was worthy?

Ah, are you in the Oxford road/Charles street building? Used to cycle past there on the way to Uni.

    Erm.

    Sunday's weather forecast.

    Occasional showers.

Err no. How about 2 solid hours of torrential rain followed by an hour of solid drizzle?

Also, strava failed to record my 130odd km ride through it all.

Every 15 minutes you'd pass some guy stricken with a puncture by the side of the road - the moan was always the same "not what the forecast said". Certainly not.

    Yeah...

I decided to cut the massively overgrown hedges on Sunday - after an hour with the chainsaw I managed to get on with the hedge trimmer.

I'm stood on a metal stepladder holding an electric hedge trimmer in the rain when two massive thunder crashes went off overhead - I didn't even SEE the flash.

You know that feeling you get when you realise you're doing something really dumb?

Oh, rant: I had to get up early this morning to clean the fecking drive before I could wheel the bike out - it was COVERED in the detritus from Sunday.

Every Sunday night I go to bed at a reasonable hour as I have to come in the office next morning. And every Sunday I either can't get to sleep so am lying there for 5 hours or I fall asleep quickly only to wake up several times during the night.

End result, every Monday I'm shattered when at work :(

Give into it then. :) After enjoying the Olympics through the evening, then the highlights followed by more highlights, then finding an Iron Maiden doc on BBC4 followed by a bit of IM in concert I discovered the joys of a playlist on the iBox thing and made the mistake of working through the good stuff in there, whilst polishing off a nice bottle of something red. By 3:48 it seemed like bed would be a good idea, and driving that soon after a bottle & half of el vino didn't seem like a good plan this morning so did a steady potter in on the bike to clear the head & lungs out a bit.

Having the whole family away for the weekend buggers my routine up a bit.

Rant? Oh umm... slowest commute for a while. Not good.

Good to connect the dots but less whining about the rain and remember this:

Rule #9// If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather – be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot – are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check the weather and, upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile to spread across their face. This is a rider who loves the work.

That said the rules say little about how damn good that cheese cake was.
