to the nice chap who jumped every red along with man on an odd green running bike jumping all the lights to the twunt who moved infront of me at every lights then to wobble off, yes, you told me to 'F*ck off' but fingers crossed its you who ends up getting smacked by some bloke in a white van.

+1 nodders are fine if they don't ignore reds or squeeze in front at the lights. Sadly they do both, all the time. Anyway I have noticed that the days of everyone creeping through the red has stopped, more often than not there are 10+ bikes at the lights and only one who carries on regardless. Behaviour is improving gradually.

The best way to discourage other people from RLJ is to simply stop at red lights :D

1st class stamps now at 60p, luckily I've still got some left over from a sheet I found that only have 1st class marked on them. If marked with class they are still valid.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Not here in Kiltsville it isn't....

Sitting at a red light this morning, traffic coming out of the road on the left on green.... tw@t of a roadie in club kit and on a flash bike goes straight through red at full chat (he was probably >20mph) misses a car by a matter of inches, then does exactly the same at the next set of lights. The poor woman driving the car looked like she's sh@t herself - I'm convinced she accelerated slightly to avoid the collision. It would have served the fecker right if she'd panicked and hit the brakes.

Do write to the club, most clubs (maybe bar London Dynamo) take responsibility for their riders. Given those in club kit should be seen as the visable members of our community it is us who should be setting the better standard.

P*ncture this morning second one in two weeks. I've been running Marathon +'s since October '11 an have had 3 p*nctures since then...all in the past week grr

also i flew my rc plane last night, main wing snapped at the root in mid air at around 200ft up, causing the plane to spiral nose first into the ground "BOOM"!

  • Almost got taken out by a girl on a bike last night, coming down a small rise in a bike lane that then becomes a bus lane. I signall left to have her undercut me at speed. Apparently I was being silly getting so annoyed at her, the fact she had then undertaken a cyclist with a childseat and helium balloon(you coudn't tell there wasn't a child in it).

Oh well, statistically it's her who's more likely to die under a truck.

Eurosport seem happy to show the Tour of Flanders from 11:45 to the finish (around 16:00)

    I should be grateful.

Albeit they've decided to show 2 hours of motor-racing from 12:15-14:15 - when all the racing will be happening with the new course.

    Angry? Doesn't even come close.

Dear fair weather nodders, for heavens sake USE A LOWER GEAR!

not only will you move faster, you'll also be able to maintain a straight line because you aren't bent over the bars grimly humping away like a demented dog on heat.

    anyway, nice out isn't it?

woman overtook me, on a bend, into oncoming traffic about 50m from a junction on red. she had to brake and pull in before she had completely passed me. I politely suggested that she had made a dangerous manoeuvre and that she had not gained any time (there I was, waiting at the lights next to her). She says; "I'm fine, you don't have to worry about me, I know what I'm doing..."
...Well actually it wasn't you I was worried about and you clearly don't know what you're doing...
  • I know it's been done to death already but... Nodders!

    1) If you're on a fat-tyred MTB or sit up and beg don't squeeze in front of me at the lights
    2) Please shoulder check before you move out
    3) Swinging your bike around the lane is not a sign of your excellent bike handling skills - sometimes less is more!
    4) Please don't pull out on me
and 5) (and the real peeve!) If I am leaving a safe gap of a couple of bike lengths in front of me read the situation in front - it is generally because a vehicle up ahead is going to turn or there is simply no room to pass and I do not want to go into a windscreen if there is sudden braking/ hide in a driver's blind spot. Don't try and squeeze in!
oh and 6) (I'm on a roll now) No, it doesn't impress me when you draft me for 1 km then swing round to overtake nearly knocking me off in the process...

Wow, maybe I needed to vent... And I'm enjoying my sunny commutes this week!

It's the same every year: noddergedden. The sun comes out and there are the FWCs with all their 'special moves'

Monday was a case in point. I was cycling along chelsea embankment a bit behind a lorry which was signalling left. He'd misjudged where the turn was and so was halfway past some cyclists. He realised and slowed and waited for them to clear him before starting his turn. Then a nodder undertook me and dove and swerved past the near-side of the now-turning lorry. Lorry spotted him and stopped. Top man.

I gave the chap a slow clap as I went past a few hundred metres later

More of a lament than a rant. I really miss working in Richmond. Going for a walk on days like this was great, nice pubs on the green, civilised people and just a nice place to be.
I just went for a walk to get some air here in Chavworth, what an awful place this is. The local pub was made into a Tesco Express, that's a good thing. You're less likely to get stabbed in a supermarket.

I was passed on a climb on Sunday by a nodder. Seat down low, riding on his heels, wearing jeans, big coat, hat, goggles, big shoes & heavy gloves and was spinning away on what was probably a 23-30 ratio creating an exaggerated S shape in his wake; he was all over the shop. My excuse is that I was 20 miles into a 75 miler, was pacing it and couldn't match his bottom gear. In my eagerness to show him who's boss, I missed a slot left and did an additional mile up the next climb. Caught him though. 8)

Why do nodders feel that they need every item of clothing they own on? Admittedly I've had sleeves and gloves on in the morning but coming back is short sleeves/mitts and I keep passing people in heavyweight hi-vis, thermal buffs and night vision gloves. Are they trying to sweat out a few pounds?
