    WHAT??!!??
Pretty much a carbon copy of the guy on the charity ride, who got hit by the bloke who jumped out of a Peugeot 407, who the police then failed to ID until he handed himself in.

Except he hit me about 7 times while I was lying on the ground after the first hit knocked me over.

Charming. I've got witnesses, got it all on the cam, got an appointment with the police tomorrow evening.

    feckin hell dude

are you all shook up (Mm mm oh oh)

    how did it happen?

    was it lycra jealousy?

I bought a car in November (Vauxhall Signum) on Saturday afternoon we were driving to the local country estate to take the dog for a run when the battery light comes on, on the car. "Dammit" i thought its the alternator

so i pull into the local kwik fit to ask them to test the battery/ alternator - they confirm its the alty

the car has warranty with the AA so i phone them today who tell me to take the car to one of their nominated garages (Halfords!!!??!!) i phone Halfords who tell me the earliest it will be is Friday to look at the car

so i phone back AA who tell me that i can take the car to anyone but they will only pay an hourly rate of up to £39.60 per hour. there aint a garage in the world that works at that rate!!!

so i know have to find a garage to look at it an shell out on a car that i dont use (its my mrs's car)

sorry for the long rant boys n girls

Coming over a narrow bridge, one lane in each direction, but just about the width of a car.

There's a solid white line. He catches up with me at the start of the bridge. beeps his horn at me, I look over my shoulder, do nothing, carry on riding at ~20mph. On the 'upslope' of the bridge now, I can see a car coming the other way. He overtakes across the solid white line, sees the other car, cuts back in while he's next to me, I put my arm out becaus ehe's going to hit me. His car hits my hand/my hand touches his car, depending on your point of view. He gets in front and stops. I go round him. Then he's behind me, so I pull onto the pavement and stop, to let him get past. He drives onto the pavement, jumps out of his car and.....

Glad you're generally ok. Hope the witnesses helped. Sorry to hear that, there are some lunatics out there. I must say I've become a lot more cautious since I got into a row with a bloke and he got out with a claw hammer.

    Tredz.... :x

Ordered a load of noobie things like rear light, padded shorts, mud guards, lock & cable and bits and bobs... Got an email saying "Out of stock and will receive them "Likely next week"" :x Phoned them and three items that where in stock are now not in stock, bloody looking forward to getting a parcel to work, now will have to wait... and wait...

Worst part is that I just googled Tredz and they are a non stock holding company judging by the complaints..

@cyclingprop - Wisdom tooth ouch my hurt, although not a first, in fact on way home from hospital I felt great due to the cocaine like drug they pump me with my face was numb, next day my good did it hurt, then it got infected, that really hurt, then my denist had to sort it out, that didn't hurt as much. Only had one of four taken out the the other are staying in.

Aye, it's just the one fortunately. The other two were yoinked (definitely a real word) about 3 years ago. And there isn't a fourth, the xray said so.

Final rant for today (I hope): put Swisstop Greens on the fast bike to take my mind off my tooth. Destroyed hex screw. Won't be a problem until it needs changing, but still :(

cyclingprop: Yours was probably more unpleasant than mine! GWS.

Thanks for the concern everybody :)

I've got home and watched the incident back, it confirms everything I wrote in the first post, except the overtake took place just after the solid white on our side had ended, it was still way too close, he still cut in and he still punched me in the face. I've put the whole thing (home-incident) on a DVD to take to the police station tomorrow, to show that I hadn't been winding him up for the previous ten minutes or anything.

It also confirms that I really do scream like a girl  I was just trying to make some noise to get someone to notice tbh

Would have been nice to have buried a chainring in his shin as he came towards me, but hey ho.....

Did exactly the same weekend before last fitting Swiss stop greens. LBS provided spare screws for free. They'll be getting some business from that.

Sounds rough bails87 -- the very best of luck in bringing him to justice. Test the DVD on a normal DVD player, and maybe make a few copies of the video -- not to share (side note: don't share it in anyway if I were you), but just in case your machine blows up, or your cat eats your MPEG.
Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.

Yeah keep copies and don't share in case it damages any case you have.

Aghast to read of your assault; I hope the police have no hesitation in passing this to the CPS to prosecute. Drop Martin Porter an email if they look to be stalling.

Horrible one Bails - glad you're OK. A shame these people are too stupid to be able to think - eg was it really all worth it in the hope of saving 10 seconds of journey time?
Its a one man band, found his address and mobile number on line.
Is he a builder/decorator/plumber/etc. ? have a look at the trades reference sites like CheckATrade, DuluxSelect, etc... some of those you can leave a 'quality reference' on...

He's a plumber, had his name written down the side of his van.

Or failing that, keep booking him to come out to fictitious addresses.*

It's actually rather difficult to see the downside of this approach if the police don't do anything........

I mean, it isn't as though you'd need to do it yourself if you happened to mention the name of the company on the forum!

This rant is 20 odd years overdue.
I had 3 wisdom teeth removed at Guys. They told me I could have morphine or something to help with the pain. Local anaesthetic first then he said he had to check it worked before he gave me the morphine as I wouldn't care if I had that. Prods my gum and asks if it hurts, prods again, still no pain. Almighty cracking sound I yelp and swear telling him I could feel that. He replies "Well that's the first one done, we might as well carry on". Second one was a bit easier but I could feel it. Third one he had his knee on my chest to get enough force to pull it out. Ouch!!!
After he'd finished he asked why I was still sat there. I told him I was still waiting for the morphine.
  • To the phuktard in the blue Corsa who decided that it'd be fun to drench me and the kids this morning by driving around a corner close enough to the kerb to create a tidal wave of muddy gutter water as we walked by.
    And...
To the Council for not unblocking the drain at the above location to prevent numpties from drenching unsuspecting pedestrians despite me having reported the problem weeks ago.
    And...
To my shoe for having a hole in it so that I am now sat here with a sodden sock.
    And...
To the Welsh rain for exacerbating the issues above.

    ........ I loathe you all

Did you know that driving through a puddle to splash bystanders is an offence of "careless, and inconsiderate, driving" under the Road Traffic Act section 3 and carries a fine of up to £2,500.

Then while still in the village this complete f***ing tw**ing knobdribblingspunkstainrectaldischarge of a BMW driver decides he needs to swing THROUGH the junction to be able to see.

Not a full on rant, and not wishing to open a can of worms again but...

Boy Jr has his Bikeability today at school. The permission slip was abundantly clear in stating that helmets are optional, so why does his teacher take it upon herself to announce at yesterday's end-of-day reminders that anyone who turns up sans hat won't be allowed to do it? A quiet word this morning and it's resolved and the boy is relieved and a bit happier, but is it really necessary to insist that a bunch of kids doing Bikeability in a playground are so at risk that PPE must be worn? Heck he's come home from school twice with nasty cuts that have turned out to leave permanent (but minor) scars but I don't see school notices advising that if children wish to run about in the playground they must wear helmets, knee & elbow pads or stay indoors where it's safe.

My son's bicycle training, at school, involved progressing to open roads ... they cycled to and from the town centre ... I was quite impressed. Not sure if helmets were 'enforced' but he/we always wear one.
