Clunky knees

I am currently doing 26 miles a day commuting. I have extremely flat feet and a "hyper mobile patella" (I think). I am also taking dancing lessons. I noticed last night that my knees feel, um, best I can describe them is weak and loose. I was wondering about maybe having created an imbalance in my leg muscles (just read the article on here) as cycling is really my only leg exercise. Would I benefit from seeing a sports physio or maybe spending some time in the gym building up other muscles around my knees to add strength and balance. I would rather not have to do the gym thing but if its achoice of that or knee injuries then frankly I will go to the gym!

Physio would be a good start - get a proper assessment and go from there. Cycling is unlikely to make knees worse, and should make them stronger. Doing gym work stands a bigger chance of making things worse and anyway would be better done during teh winter to allow you more time on your bike now!
