So it sounds like most of you riding your bikes at night are breaking the law aswell
    The law states:-
'At night a bicycle must also be fitted with a red rear reflector (and amber pedal reflectors, if manufactured after 1/10/85).
    just a thought!!

you sure that is not at point of sale?

Plus who will stop you for not having reflectors if you have lights.

has anyone been stopped for riding without reflectors?

Yeh, I did about 4 years ago at about 5 in the morning on my way to work. I did have a reflector, but the hinge was knackered so it was facing down.
Plod gave me a "word to the wise" and let me on my way, but still an inconvenience!! :x

Rear wheel refectors can cause damage it seems.

A friend of mine when I turnd up to go out on an early ride was sitting there with a busted mech hanger and a snapped off wheel refector. He thinks the refector caught the mech and caused the damage.

Not sure how that happend TBH but it all seemes to add up.

Told him to remove em

    None on my bike.

1: I don't ride on the road so they're pointless as a safety feature.
2: When going over the handlebars they're just another thing to hurt myself on.
3: Wheel reflectors come off; I see a few every time I go out on a trail; they could be a hazard if the tyres flick them up into your face.
4: Weight! Negligable, but every little helps.

A bell might be useful offroad, but see point 2 and 4.
