Its all about Pressure

Lol, too true - probably weigh more than the savings!
I was on the weight weenies site tother day, there was a break down of the lightest builds - the lightest roadbike had the tyre GLUE and AIR weighed!0 -
my god... bearing in mind all that could be changed, if, for the example, the rider had been to the toilet or not before the ride??? also is that for new tyres, or older ones that have been worn in (hence lighter?), and what about the temp in the tyres??? youve gotta think about these things (apparrently)i ride a hardtail0

1 cubic foot of air at STP has a mass of 37g0
-
yeah, according to pV=nrT. but if...
...wait no, im not doing this :oops:i ride a hardtail0 -
Try pumping the air out of the frame, which is sealed first.0
-
what, some kind of vacumn frame??? dangerous... i like it!i ride a hardtail0
-
Interesting concept! It would 'load' the frame from atmospheric pressure, placing it under stress and increasing its strength (say like a pressurized can would be)0
-
might be a bit of a pop if you had a bit of an off... i was gona suggest the same for tyres, but that wouldnt work really. at all. actually, surely white tyres are slower?? if infra red radiation is reflected off them, then according to pV=nrT then you would have to put in a greater pressure (as T is lower) for the same volume... you here that? black is this fastest colour...i ride a hardtail0

Ah the the rubber may soften as it heats up, increasing drag0
-
of course, how foolish of me... forgive me, im only first year degree!!i ride a hardtail0
-
Ha, its 8 years since I did any of that crap!!! very rusty!0
-
alas, exam week for me. really should revise instead of talk about tyre pressures... ah welli ride a hardtail0

Be good if you are doing fluid dynamics! Bernoullie effect, thats a good un.0
-
not this year am fraid!! just lots (and lots) of maths, atomic and nuclear, electronics and a load of pilot studies stuff... looking forward to something a bit more meaty come september mind!!i ride a hardtail0
-
Ah, the boring bits! though the maths puts you in good stead for next year... I loved nuclear physics though, especially the lab work!0
-
huh, no such joy in the labs this year, was all about working out errors and nonsense like that mainly, and easy experiments. really glad i didnt do the foundation year!!! still, been flying, so thats amazingi ride a hardtail0
