I have a ti cyclocross bike and think it's probably the best material for the purpose - you'll not suffer the o-sh*t moment that a crash would inflict on a carbon or aluminium frame - particularly if you're a bit more adventurous off-road and go a bit further than a muddy-field. I sold my MTB because my crosser was as much fun to ride, didn't weigh a ton and was better for riding mixed road/bridleway/trails. If you can afford the luxury of a cross bike for racing, then clearly the weight of carbon or alloy is an advantage.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Surely titanium's anti-corrosion characteristics make it the ideal material for a cross frame? You can go throw all kinds of shit at it (literally!) and it'll wash up as good as new and outlast a carbon or aluminium frame by years.

    you re so lying!!!

I can see why Ti is good for a "cyclocross type" frame which is used for general riding but if we assume (and its a big assumption) that the bike will be used for a 1 hour race on sunday (as in a cyclocross race) then comfort becomes less important and stiffness becomes more important - although my Ti MTB finds grip that no hardtail has business finding - especially on rocks!
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Theres a review just out in 220 magazine of the planet x pro road ti vs cyclefit glifer vs litespeed siena vs Sunday silk road pro .

Its not a bad review , a bit long winded maybe - heres a couple of extracts .

"The Planet X rains on everyone elses parade . Its not just the cheapest frame and complete bike here , its off the scale on value . For less than the chinese made ti your getting a top quality frame , handcrafted by one of the most experienced titanium workshops in the world`"
"What makes the lynskey- built bike outstanding though is the way it rides , if your not in a hurry , it cruises with the sublime smoothness only top quality titanium bikes can manage , Turn up the heat and it responds superbly , with inspirationally muscular pedal response in any gear and totally surefooted but sprung agility for uncompromising cornering and descending speed . Weve been lucky enough to ride some of the worlds best bikes , but everyone who rode it declared the Planet X one of the best weve ever tested :"
