Has anybody got a Garmin GPX output for the ride? I stupidly managed to switch my 305 on twice at the start (switching it off ... duhhh). I'd really like to know how steep that surprise hill was before the second feed station ... and Uffington.

Peak gradient on my garmin shows 28%. With a pinch of salt I'd suggest it was 20-25% all the way up. Nasty wasnt it? I'd forgotten all about that one till i rode into it

I can send you the profile data if you want it (.tcx or .crs file?), let me know and I'll mail it to you.

There was a sign before the one at 100km that said 17% for a quarter of a mile..

    Hi

Does anybody know how far it was? My computer decided I was going so slowly up a hill that I'd died and stopped by itself?

    My computer read 90 miles

Also, good news re the crash, from the official site:

"Special thanks to the Bicester riders who gave assistance to the rider that crashed at Woolstone. We spoke to him last night and he was out of hospital and on his way home"

Don't have Garmin by my VDO bike computer logged the steepest climb as 22% with total cumulative height gain of 1429 metres. Temperature ranged from 16 to 21 degrees.

Thanks Stu. That sounds about right.

How many other people were massively overdressed because of the rain forecast? I was throwing water down my neck as often as could. I got though almost 6 x 750ml bottles.
  • I decided what to wear at 7.50am. Short of packing all my wet weather gear in my jersey, this meant accepting if I got caught out I'd have wet feet and knees, but I decided better that than being too hot. On this occasion it worked out.
  • Results are out already... :D or  or

I went faster this year, but not by as much as everyone else. 65th vs what 110th..? Bah  Bring on the CGF.

Great, the only photo of me has me walking up Uffington, fortunately I'm not the only one.

Could someone do me a favour and post a direct link for the 2008 results page (a PDF file I think) - for some bizarre reason the links on the WHC site don't work on my Mac (on any browser). Cheers.
