I prefer jelly babies on rides anyway. Fig rolls are dryer than ghandis flip flops.

Actually I do genuinely wonder if this is caused by the significant increase in Corn Syrup prices worldwide associated with increased bio-fuel manufacture...

You don't need to go as far as Spain, Sheffield will do...

Jaffa Cakes? Mini Snickers? Don't they suffer from the obvious drawback of melting? There's always bananas, I guess, but they also have a habit of turning to messy goo, just in a different way!

None of my local supermarkets, including the Co-op, have had any FR's for weeks. My 50 miles rides are sooo much harder without them. :(

Well done Covec. the forthcoming petrol panic pales into insignificance compared to the fig roll scandal.

I am benefitting from the glut of malt loaf though - Mrs B has an eye for a bargain and our cupboards are stacked with them. If there is a malt loaf mountain, I'm wearing the polka dots..

Does anyone have a recipe for a good home made fig roll? A really good healthy home made version could be fantastic, in the same way that home made flapjack (<Homer> Mmmmm flapjack </Homer> )is always better than bought flapjack.

I've only tried a Kelloggs Nutri-Grain bar once, but the taste was very fig roll-ish. Ditto a similar product (I forget which) from the McVities Go-Ahead range.
