Medway, Essex &Canterbury area bikers.... Mass ride?

Just an early thought but with Summer upon us and everyone gagging to get out for a ride... Would anyone be interested in showing an interest and discussing a possible get together within Canterbury/Medway/Essex.

This idea has potential for a large turnout already as you have the Medway lot and the guys from Canterbury way, not forgetting the kent trails people...

If it was to happen I would say the general fitness target would be for up to 30 miles, unless enough people would be interested in some sort of over nighter/weekend trip somewhere.
My idea for a Medway route is to start around Blue Bell Hill, head out to Boxley, (people can quit there if they want) then could possibly go along the water front out to Conham and Shorne. Nothing too extreme with varying routes catering for just about everyone, with a easy way all the way if anyone gets into any trouble. Not too many hills and decent terrain...

Anyone interested?

Yeah possibly up for something like that. Maybe just a day ride though....

The only real problem is if there are too many people you usually have a lot of stop/starts through no ones fault but it can distract from the riding....!

But aside from that, it sounds like a good idea. Well done!

Good work setting the ball rolling John. I'll be up for something like this. I think Paul is right though, larger numbers tend to mean more stops. BBH seems like a good destination and it would be good to find somewhere we can all have a cuppa or a sandwich after. We can decide the route nearer the time but count me in :D

Shall we start talking dates? Seems like there is plenty of interest 8)

How about Sunday the 13th July? Probably can't be too early a start if people are coming all the way from Essex.

    Lmao you nutters :P
Perhaps with all the birthdays we could do it sometime between june 25th and 13th July (My b'days on the 23rd June :P)
As for all the stops... I'd say with the type of riders we are, all at a resonable level of fitness... We could and should be able to have designated stop places... Such as the 2 (for a start) that we did when I done the Boxley ride with some of you (The bit where Aid and Russ fell off then on a road somewhere )
No real doubt it would have to be a Sunday though, which may be a problem for anyone using public transport, but it's not like we'd be starting early so no real problem I guess.

Lemme know what you think of the dates and if anyone has any ideas for deviations/alterations of the route...
Like I said though, a good level of fitness is required... I'm gonna aim for about 30 miles, which should be more than enough..

Oh and while I'm here... Organising Paintball (again) for the 4th of May. Anyone interested?? Neil, if you was interested your lad would be able to come, but their minimum age is 12... So if you think you could pass him off as 12 then by all means bring him along
Will be playing on the VIP package, £5 per 100 balls, your in controll of what you spend at all times. £10 deposit per person required before 21st april (covers 1st 200 rounds, you can pay yourself, by phone, onto my booking (or your own) if you dont want to/cant give me the money)
It's on a Sunday, very near Brands Hatch. Own Transport required.

Again, can't make the paintball :(

I suggested the 13th July purely for selfish reasons. I only have one other weekend free between now and then... Happy to stick to only a couple of stops, its good to keep moving. 30 miles around those kind of hills will be a good challenging ride so i'm up for it 8)

Right so in July we have the following Saturdays and Sundays:
    Sat/Sun 5th & 6th.
    Sat/Sun 12th & 13th.
    Sat/Sun 19th & 20th.
    Sat/Sun 26th & 27.

I think July would be a good time, weather should be ok by then and gives people enough notice and time to train for the approximate fitness level needed.

Muddylegs and Grantway... How will you be getting here? Is Sunday a problem for you?

Starting point will be BBH lookout point atm I would think..., that way we could end with a nice little uphill...

As for the date... You tell me! When is everyone up for it? Doesn't have to be in July...

Oh well, I guess that was taking the bull by the ears rather than the horns  , but at least we have a date.

Count me in for 13th July.

Where we gonna ride? BBH, Blean, Cobham, Bedgebury, Surrey?
