A lot of people recommend those, might give them a go when the Blizzards wear out.

What's the idea with the "free tubes with a set of tyres" thing? It seems to be quite a popular offer, but I've already got all the tubes I need so I'd rather not pay for them* just to chuck them in a drawer. Is it common practice to fit new tubes when you change your tyres?

I always fit new tubes wth new tyres.

I always think that seperating an old tyre from a tube weakens the tube, but I've no proof....

I do think that an old tube could be damaged and so I'd rather bung new ones in

There's nothing wrong with Gatorskins they are good tyres, but like all tyres once they start to wear they seem to lose grip and p******e protection properties.

I used them for over three years but now have switched to Michelin Krylion Carbons, which so far are better than the Gatorskins ......

ok ive got two good choices:

    gatorskins: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.a ... kin%20Tyre

    vittora rubino pro:

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.a ... ing%20Tyre

the gatorskin are heavier at 280g rubino pros are 240 g. Which do you think are better, im hoping for good puncture resistance but also lightweight. e.g. if gators have better punctue resisitance than rubino pros then ill get the gators. Is a diff of 40g much??(Im used to 350g michelin dynamic's)

P.S Whats the diff between folding tyres and normal tyres?

folding tyres fold, rigid (normal) don't.

IMO always worth getting folding tyres.

They literally fold- you can wrap the tyre up and fit it in a pocket without damaging the bead.

Ahhhh thanks i thought folding had something to do when riding and the tyre fold somewhere and does something special  . Oh ok, the rubino pros are folding, so which of those two do u reccommend in my origional post?

The Vittorias probably - but I've not got experience of either (but they are what I'd buy)

Hey i found the rubino pro tech, the only diff between this and the rubino pros are that the teh version have a sidewall nylon casing like the gatorskin have. This being pretty much similar to the gatorskins, and lighter 240g compared to gators at 280g which are better?:

    rubino pro tech:

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.a ... Tube%20Set

The gatorskins for 2 of them would be around £22 while rubino tech pro are £30, are the rubino's worth the £8 more?
  • I would add my vote for the Michelin Krylion Carbons, but if I do I will definitely get a flat within 400yds of leaving the house tomorrow - sorry!!

anyone had experience with vittora rubino pro or tech and think theyre better than gatorskins? (Or other way round) Ive also found gatorskins with kevlarbead (folding) for around 16 quid each but theyre lighter than all weve seen 220g:
