Bicycle Power Meters + POLL

Yes Ergomo is on fixed (also will use on MTB/Airnimal, reason for getting it is that it can be used on very different bikes.) Could put on road bike but means changing chainring and getting BB chased/faced (which is why Ptap is easier option for general road bike use)
The average HRs were pretty much the same between the first two tests (141 v 139), though HR maxed at about 3 bpm higher (158 v 155) when I was on top watts on Ptap. I put this down to fact that got pacing a bit wrong and hit 300W from 250W on Ptap at end of starting ramp which gave HR a kick up.
Speed on the Ptap was about 10% greater than on the Ergomo. However tyres on the two bikes are very different (Vittoria Corsa vs Schwalbe Marathon Plus(and Slime tubes)) I guess I could have swapped tyres around (but pushed for time) and will if I do the test again.Martin S. Newbury RC0 -

It's around 10 quid a week for a PowerTap, Mike. Are you thinking of setting up a rival coaching business and undercutting? For a fiver a week Mike can come round and watch you ride your bike. He is so in tune with the zen of cycling, he can perceive other people's perceived exertion without the need for mere powermeters...Le Blaireau (1)0

Oh Dear. You don't seem to like me very much, do you?
Anyway for the record I don't believe I'm cut out for coaching and have dropped the idea. My interest in cycling is confined to training for road riding and racing TT's and as my methods are old school and out of step with modern day thinking, they must be wrong.
Musn't they?0 -

Just come off the turbo. The idea was to do some interval training this morning. However the intentions were good but the body wasn't up to it. That's OK though. Having come off 2 hour tempo rides on Wednesday and Thursday it's hardly surprising.0 -
I went for the expense option in the poll.
I have just spent £850 on some carbon wheels. [they better last!!] bringing the total cost to £2600 ish. I don't agree with the adage "if they can afford the £2.5k+ then the cost of a power meter isn't an issue".
For some, maybe, but I can't see the cost to benefit ratio in my favor.
Given the choice, I'd rather use Power.http://twitter.com/mgalex
