Which carbon wheels???!

The cosmics are a structural aluminium rim with a carbon fairing, which adds a little stiffness and a lot of aeroness. This makes them pretty bomb proof when compared with something like a planet x wheel (or a zipp) which is a carbon construction with an aluminium hooked rim bonded to the outside.

This isn't correct andy, the planet x wheels are a full carbon rim0 -

This is not really recommended as aluminium rims tend to leave small shards of alluminium in the blocks which will then wear the carboin rims down.
How much effort is it to change over brake blocks before a race anyway ? 5 mins max ?Consider also Hed Jets - carbon fairings over aluminium rims. Pair of 50's weigh in at 1620g according to the site and the price is about the same as the PXs. If you don't like the sound of carbon fairings then keep in mind they are the same fairings used to make the Bontrager Aeolus clinchers, and also Hed have been making them for years with the majority of customers reporting great performance and reliability.
I disagree with that, I use Swiss Stop Yellow King and leave the same ones in for my carbon and alloy rims. Here is the official blurb from them and I have never had any issues with shards on the blocks:
The fantastic performance of the Yellow King compound on aluminium rims also enables you to change wheels between carbon and aluminium, for the first time, without changing the brake pads and still maintain high performance braking.
While the Yellow King pads do not achieve the same performance on aluminium as the carbon surfaces they were designed for, they far exceed their cork-based counterparts, and are clearly superior to cork based compounds in the ability to modulate braking power.
The performance of this unique compound far exceeds that of conventional carbon specific brake pads
Back to the topic - I have some Reynolds DV46 which are a great wheelset. Lightweight and semi deep, great hubs. can't ask for more. If your budget will stretch I am sure they would not disappoint0 -
Do you have the DV46Cs celbianchi or the Ts?0

One more thing - the Swiss Stop yellow pads are the best I have used on carbon as well. I have had carbon wheels for racing on for about 3 years now and have tried a few varieties of block.
The best wheels in the world will make you uneasy if you can't reduce speed safely without the fear of grabbing, or as was the case with carbon rims not stopping at all in the wet. I think the combination of the wheel and the braking ability are equally important.
The swiss stop have been perfect for me.0
