aracer wrote:You've still not told us what property you think is better on an expensive alu frame compared to a cheap carbon frame. You simply keep repeating the word "outperform" with no supporting evidence. I'm really beginning to think your forum name is a total misnomer.
Which pros are still on alu?
Di Luca used to ride most stages of the Giro on an Aluminium frame.
Surely "outperform" is relative to the buyers requirements, any frame can be made more / less responsive, comfortable etc, the design is as important as anything else ie bb stiffness / size etc. You can't just say a carbon is more comfortable, alu stiffer etc regardless of price.Planet X N2A

a lot of weight weenies love the pedal force ....
you get a lot of bang for buck...
tbh i dont get this cheap carbon frame thing ..... a panacea for lack of fitness ! ..
i would stick with the 'dale ...ride it like you stole it !0 -

I've got an Avant which I picked up for £800 in Italy, it's fantastic but the after sales service is appalling. They make superb bikes, but why take the chance of suffering the unbelievable delays some have had to suffer waiting for a repair etc when there is so much quality competition out there.Planet X N2A

pinarello only a two year warranty as well !
quite shocking for the price...
worst frame i ever 'bought' was a colnago master SLX ....dreamt of it for years...flogged it in the comic 6 weeks later & got mick kowal to build me 653 !
now got a TCR after a long break from the sport & cant fault it at all0 -
I have a Giant TCR which I bought in Australia for a steal. Great bang for buck but for a tall guy like me was just too damn twitchy.
Also FWIW, I could be wrong but don't most manufacturers weigh their medium frame for spec weight as opposed to Pedalforces small frame?

I love my Dolan frame.
When i was ordering bits for it, I rang them up and emailed them to check things like which size clamp I'd need or to double check on the fit of the headset and they'd spend the time talking through with me. I'd love to see how they deal with someone BEFORE they buy the bike0
