I was told that a few drops of Roesmary & Marjoram in the (hot not cold) bath after a hard ride is good at getting out built up lactic acid which can cause pain and stiffness during recovery?

Marjoram is one of those few herbs which are said to have beneficial properties for almost everything A to Z, though it especially is supposed to help stomach upsets and act as pain-reducer.
Rosemary is believed to help physical regeneration, and also help stomach upset and headaches. It's also supposed to help memory loss and increase potency/fertility.
They both sound ideal after one hard ride in readiness for the next!

Considering, that
1) lactate disperses to normal levels by itself within about ~90-mins even after the most intense exercise, and
2) lactate is a fuel and not an 'enemy' of performance, and
3) it's lactate and not lactic acid
It's highly improbably that rosemary and marjoram would aid recovery (off the top of my head i know of no research to suggest such that these herbs would help)

You should consider a "cool-down" ride before putting the bike away after a ride..
