Childhood Crushes...

Word has just reached my ears (three years after the event - no-one tells me anything…) that 80s sex-kitten – and subject of my very first schoolboy crush – Debbie Gibson once got her norks out for Playboy. I feel somewhat disappointed that –

a – No-one told me in March 2005
b – She would do this to me.

Ah, it brought it all back; those happy times furtively sneaking a look in Smash Hits, the feeling that you wanted to do something to her but wasn’t quite sure what, the ‘debates’ with Tiffany lovers (ie. scum) in the playground as to who was best.

So, who was your big childhood crush?

NB - This was all many years ago - it wasn't like, last week or anything...

I always liked Carol Decker, her of the red hair - I do have a thing for ladies with red hair, so I suppose that would account for it.

I used to know Carol really well back in the hey day when they were topping the charts, in fact I knew the whole band and went to Mick Chetwoods (keyboards) wedding, a sad clame to fame I know.

I thought Kate Bush was hot esp in the Babooshka video...

Those were the days.....she was hot hot hot....I was told about the Playboy thing and have managed to resist all temptation to search for it.....I wonder if she was still wearing a hat!!!

The other early crush that I remember was Lisa in Kids of Degrassi Street who for some reason became Caitlin in Degrassi Junior High.

Now this will really show my age.

In about 1954 the Daily Mirror published a full size picture of Bridget Bardot. There was a bit of her on each page and we put her together like a jigsaw puzzle and stuck her on the underside of someone's desk lid. What a way to inflame a 14 year old schoolboy's latent passion.

I despair when I see what she looks like now. She was wonderful then.

My other favourites were Jannette Scott and Shirley Eaton. Like another world - Like??? it WAS another world

First was Lionel from playschool. I was about 4 or 5 (!!) and I had to go behind the sofa to watch because I got all embarrassed  . I pretended my nan's mop was him and used to dance round the yard with "him".

John Taylor from Duran Duran a bit later on. I thought he was great.

I remeber thinking from quite a young age that this was a lady I would like to do things with. Now in my mid 20's I would still like to do things with her except I now have a clearer image of what those things would be  :P
