Wobbly forks

I just got a bike and was given a better set of forks from a friend. The when i fit the forks they wobble slightly. The forks are marzocchi z1 sport and bikes a norco wolverine. It says in the specs the headset is 1 1/8th and i was told so were the forks.

did you take the crown race of the old forks and fit it to the new forks?

And did you tighten up the top cap before the stem?

(seen it done too many times)
