Please, please, please remove the seat post. Remove the seat post clamp and take out the bolt/skewer. Clean everything down thoroughly, including inside the frame tube. get everything spotless and regrease the thread on the bolt/skewer. Put everything back together.

I don't know if this will work for you, but it did for me. I had a creaking sound that drove me batshit for weeks until I figured it out by realising the bike didn't creak when I was out of the saddle.

The problem is that the rear wheel throws a lot of crap straight into the seat post clamp area. Tiny bits of grit and muck work their way between seat post and tube and that's when the creaking starts.

Worked for me - hope it does for you too.

ok sir....i shall give this a try
  • I had the same problem took ages to find the cause which me and everybody who rode my bike swore it was the BB but it turned out to be the freehub ,wrote off to company who supplied the wheels and the replacement hub sorted the probem and now there is no more clicking :D
  • PS Found out it was the freehub by swapping back wheels with one of my mates bikes and he then had the clicking/creaking and my bike was fine, try swapping the wheels with a mate at least you can eliminate one item without too much farting about
