Powertap Problems

I have a powertap 2.4sl. I installed the hub and went for a short ride. The computer unit picked up and displayed watts, speed and heart rate OK.
The problem came when I tried to download the data on to my PC. I installed PowerAgent 7.1.1 and the USB driver. When I tried to download the data using PowerAgent I see a dialog box with drop down list of devices, but only "Unknown Device" listed.
I thought there might be a problem with the firmware in the computer unit. It was installed with version 5.33, according to the saris (powertap) website it should be 5.67.
I downloaded the latest firmware and the USB firmware bootloader and tried to update the firmware. The firmware load failed with "ERROR could not establish load mode".
Now my computer unit has stopped working completely. It will only display "APIdr" and not do anything else.
Anyone else had any problems like this?

Hi Rob, if you don't get any response here try a search at http://cyclingforums.com/f88-power-training.html
PS See you at Palace0 -
When you originally tried to download did you have 1 button pressed and "host" in the bottom right of screen? If you forget to do that you get the unknown device message. happened to me a couple of times.
Anyhow you have gone beyond that with the firmware ugrade. I purposely didn't do that for fear of exactly whats has happened to you. Sorry that doesn't help.0 -
Contact Saris. It will probably need to be replaced. They will sort it out happily.
Sometimes this can be fixed by downloading the bootloader program from Saris website.0 -
I phoned customer support yesterday and we solved the problem. The issue was I hadn't snapped the CPU device fully into the USB cradle, I had only pushed in as far as it would slide easily - did not want to use too much force in case it broke. It all seems to be working now.
Looking forward to Palace - only a couple of months now!0 -
Cool. Their support is pretty good.0
