Turbo videos

I'm thinking of getting a Tacx cycling DVD to: A - help relieve the boredom of the dreaded turbo trainer and B - help me train for an ascent of Mont Ventoux in Sept.
Question is: as they're not the posh Virtual Reality type ones, how do you adjust the speed of your ascent - or if they're in real time, what pace are they set to - I don't fancy doing the Tour of Lombardy trying to keep up with Fausto Coppi!!
Cheers

Coppi took drugs(I believe I watched somewhere), so don't use him as a role model.
I've never tried the DVDs, I spend too much time using Catalyst with set power levels and intervals. Relieving the boredom can be done using a regular DVD or any other media on your machine.
I setup something to watch in a media player and once I've started Tacx I alt-tab to the player and I'm away. I prefer to watch in a window and leave some of the Tacx info showing, so I can check how I'm going.
Good luck with the Ventoux.0 -
Cheers.
I only have a Tacx Satori, so it doesn't have any computer connected - if it did, I'd get one of the VR dvd's. I'm just wondering whether the manual videos are set to realist speeds rather than pro-speeds.
Btw, Coppi's no role model of mine, but he did win the Tour of Lombardy more times than anyone else. Therefore, any video set to his speeds would be way, way out of my league. All that glitters is probably glass0 -
i think it would still be interesting to watch - would certainly relieve the boredom of the turbo
I use the Carmichael training DVD's - one came free with my turbo (a cycleops fluid2) which is time-trial specific and quite tough. I bought another from the range "cycling for fitness" which is more general.0
