I did Shadowduck's honey bread in the end and it's absolutely delicious. It didn't rise too well, but it's very moist and toasted and buttered it's the BUSINESS. Does your version end up being fairly dense and moist, Shadowduck? I'm not sure I amended all the quantities for my size loaf correctly.
The trouble with this kind of bread is that I like it sliced VERY thick and will tend to eat rather a lot of it. Mmm. Yum yum.

sorry to hijack this thread, Ruth waas that you at the start on saturday morning at about 7-30 ish chatting to the organisers in the caf? If it was apologies again for being an ignorant so and so! (again  ) I managed to puncture twice, the first time in a largeish group which given I had no idea where I was by then meant half an hour or so on the rivet trying to catch up! I didnt get my card stamped at the first control on the basis I preferred to latch onto a large group who were just leaving...still it was good fun enjoyed it and compared to sportives an absolute bargain day!
Ok, back to bread..... :oops:0 -

well my Garmin says 69.8 miles in 4hrs 15. I'm certain I didnt ride the correct course, but that meant staying on the major roads rather than sticking to the lanes, but the distance was near as dammit the same. I didnt stop at the first control as I'd spent half an hour or so flat out trying to catch someone to follow them, and we both decided to jump straight onto a group who were leaving as we were arriving....still got lost in Worcester though so just rode up the A449 to Kiddy (and punctured again... ). I enjoyed it though, mostly because the group I was with were going for it a bit on the way back, and for the first time in a long time I was closer to the front than the back on the climbs so somethings going right....0
