  • Takes an awfull ammount of room up though, have another smaller chest that i use for day to day stuff,a good set, teng tools and britool mostly, but not in the same league as the snap on one....... did advertise it for sale a few months back as i decided i was prob never going back into the car trade, but had some stupid offers considering the chest combo alone was 2.5k brand new, never mind ts contents,so still have it

Besides the railway job ive been in for the last 6 years is not as secure as it was so with my luck id sell it and get laid off .

I'm with Skyliner - I like my tools easily accessible on a toolboard. I do have a couple of smallish toolboxes for generic tools that don't like hanging up, and I store delicate things like taps in their protective box.

The mountain bikes are hanging up in the background!

Note the essential beer fridge on the left.
  • & some breed of BMW hiding off to the right 8)

I would love somewhere like that. My entire flat in London could prob fit inside that workshop :(

  • is the bike a bmw r1200 gs by any chance? nice bike!
i too wish i had my own workshop like that.
my workshop is at halfords (work) it is like that but has bikes in boxes all to one side and the tools are a real mess, i have given up trting to tidy them, every time i do my colleagues mess them all up.
if you're not crashing, you're not trying.
  • I've just had another thought

that washing machine must shake up the beers a bit when it goes onto the spin cycle

It's only a tumble dryer for use when I run out of dry biking kit! No beer vibration issues.
  • I have one of these stanley tool box's http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=124005 although mine has stickers on it, only tools used for my bike are kept in there though. I probably will get one of those tool chest at a later date, haven't got the room for one at the mo. robbarker that is one neat and tidy looking workshop.

The bike is my trust R1150GS, which is getting to be an old friend now after nealry 6 years and 50,000 miles. (The 1200 is not nearly as nice to ride as it lacks the low down grunt of the 1150 in favour of a bit more top end - I'm waiting to see what the next incarnation is like, and in the meantime this one's just nicley run in)

thats a good idea. how does insurance for tools work, do they pay out what you paid for the tools or pay out the cost of replacement.

i just spent £500 on a top chest, basic tools, 3 draw add on box and some impact tools all on special offers cost of replacement would be £1100 i would be gutted if i only got £500 back and bankrupt if i had to put up the difference

Well if anyone wants to set up a well-equipped workshop from scratch, this could be a bargain:

OK, and I won't mention the many square miles of forestry commission land with fantastic natural trails on the doorstep, or that it's only a short drive to Cwmcarn and Afan and Nant Yr Arian are easy daytrips.... :-) :-)
