Not seen ANY answer to this particular question. By anyone. Because there isn't one?

I hate the prospect of identy cards because I believe its an infringement of our privacy and rights however it would at least find all the illegal immigrants and send em back home

How exactly? Would you have the police stop anyone "what looks foreign" and demand to see their ID? Total waste of money and time, besides which there'll be huge blackmarket selling the things furnished with our data, lost by this daft government.

sorry chum should have spelt it out
If everyone has to have identity cards for everything no one without one will be able to do or buy anything or go anywhere Its that simple. Of course there will always be ways round it.

Bit like Ration Cards and spivs, then. And that was at a time when the great majority of folk recognised them as "a good thing". AND were in most senses of the term more "law abiding" than now!

spivs ... now there's a word I've not heard for many a year.

We'd probably call them entrepreneurs nowadays lol
  • Anyone that's read Blood River by Tim Butcher will realise this country's nowhere near a mess when you compare it to somewhere like the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
  • ID cards. I was in France for nine years. I regularly, when in Paris, saw ID card swoops. Imagine arrivin at, say, Tottenham Court Road tube station, and finding a ring of armed police. Forgot your ID? No problem. Just get in this van and we'll take you down the cells, your Worship.
If I had a stalker, I would hug it and kiss it and call it George...or Dick
