Oh dear, I knew I shouldn't have said anything.

Never mind, it might not be as serious as it looks.

LBS job, they do a "fork installation" (I guess it's more of an MTB thing?) they fit the headset, fork and cut the steerer. They told me to bring the bike when I knew how high I wanted the bars, as I've already paid for them to fit the headset, they'll do the steerer for me.

They are a good LBS really, although they specialise in MTBs and Trials bikes, they do need (well I give it to them anyway) some guidance on the road side of things.

    Well my build has stalled.

I've come to wire the deraillers up - the last job! Neither dérailleur I was sent is long enough to reach the rear mech. How could they make a booboo like that? I'll have to be on the phone to Merlin tomorrow now,

It's a very light bike (without chain, derailleur cables and bar tape) though.

What's going on here? The cable for the derailleur is rubbing on the spring? How can I sort this out?

Is that the kitchen table with all that cycling "crap" on it? As my wife might ask. Crap
being the operative word. Some say my wife must be a saint to put up with me. No,
Irish. Looks good enough to convert me from steel. Did I say that out loud? And don't
worry about those cracks. Little Super Glue and you'll be fine.

Is the front mech adjusted yet? You might find once you adjust the stops it will take it away from the frame and the rubbing. I expect this will be it since you don't have the chain on yet so are unlikely to have adjusted the inner stop.
If the stops are already in the correct place then just double check the cable guide under the bb is in the correct place - some have a couple of different options on their positions.

Shame about those damn cables though!

The frame looks the dogs b*ll*cks 8) Not sure about the tyres though. The bike seems to need a bit more red. Remind me what colour is the bar tape? Red would look pretty cool
  • Are you going to put any stickers on the frame?

What bidons are they (sad question I know)?

I'm sure the crack is worse in the pictures.

The front mech doesn't look to be in perfect alignment with the top cog of the chainset. This may or may not make a difference to your cable problem.

god no, they will clash with that rug/cushions - I'm not sure about those anyway with a brown sofa.

The bidons/cages are Campag in answer to another post - poss. Centaur. As for that crack, well it might not get any bigger

That's a shame, as my bike came with shimano I can't use those then :)

Those cushions and that rug might not be useful on your bike

Cages are Centaur. The bidons (follower of the rules of the Euro Cyclist I see?) are just the normal Campag ones that come with all the Campag Cages.

Can't believe that Reddragon didn't throw a sickie and get it finished :? That's the problem with people these days, no ability to prioritise what's really important

I should have easily finished it last night, but I was lacking a rear derailleur cable (got 2xfront), rang up Merlin today, hopefully they sent the cable out today and I'll get it tomorrow, and get it all finished then.

Things never go smoothly do they?

I've been following you and your bike build quite closely, (casual log in, the posts have been hugely interesting as any problems/questions which i need to know have been asked ), as I ordered a frame, same groupset, and lower wheels.

All my kit has arrived, though it's at my Dad's house, and i don't see him untill the 25th, but he's quite a bit more handy than me, so we should be building together.

Merlin sent a naff derailler with my Centaur package, but we got a new one sent out within two days. So they should be fairly quick.

Oh and I went for a Dolan Black Pearl Volare carbon frame set reduced from £850 to £400, and Black Vento wheels. Total cost come in around £1000 (£100 over budget :$)

Hope you get it all finished soon, and I hope the British weather gives you a glimpse moment of glory with that beauty once it's finished. :D
