Do you like riding in the rain?

...I do, as long as it isn't too windy. Had a fantastic wet ride in today. Someone once told me that there is more oxygen in the air when it's wet, don't know if that's true, but I seem to fly in the rain...

ditto, i was on fire this morning - great fun!point your handlebars towards the heavens and sweat like you're in hell0

I've grown to ignore the weather, wind, rain, sleet, cold, it just doesn't bother me, if anything it makes me appreciate the dry days even more.....0

I hate it. Don't mind commuting in the rain but drain covers become super slippery, visibility is down, people seem to drive worse than usual etc. As for longer rides I won't even countenance training when it's wet, it's just miserable especially in the winter.

I like riding in the rain except for my trousers getting soaked. I really need to invest in something waterproof (or lycra) and then I'll love it.Bianchi Via Nirone Veloce/Centaur 20100

...yeah I must admit I did think of buying some overtrousers. The last pair I had, years ago, were nylon and very sweaty, hopefully things may have improved...I will take a look at Wiggle and CRC I think......all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...0

The more the severe the weather the more of a challenge  , makes the "normal" days a bit boring now.
Summer in the rain means shorts and T-shirt less to get wet and then dry - Skin looks after itself0 -

Riding in the rain doesn't bother me apart from the above...0 -
I quite like it really. Only the glasses issue that bothers me really (I don't bother with contacts for work as I find the glasses better for all the screen work and proofreading I do).0

Rain = more cars on the road.
I love that uplifting feeling when overtaking large queues of traffic.0 -

I am in the same situation. Wearing a peaked cycle cap under your helmet can help a bit with this.road0 -

I usually wear my contacts and change into glasses at workWhenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

Or close your eyes, actually on second thoughts, maybe not.........
If you get on the Team Craven Cycles website they were giving away free team caps, ok so it's pink, but hey, it's free and it keeps the rain off your face....0 -

untill I got contacts i hated riding in the rain, now i love it!0

You had to register on the website and they sent you a free hat in the post......
I've just logged on and it looks like they have stopped giving them away now

Love riding in the rain except for when it is so wet you get massive puddles on the left hand side of the road that often mean a hidden pot-hole lurks beneath (especially on busy roads where not able to move out and avoid them) :evil:0
-
Love riding in the rain, I was of the (uninformed) opinion that the water on the road lessens the friction drag between my tyres and the tarmac, but whatever the reason I was zooming along this morning! A baseball-type cap keeps the rain off my eyes, neoprene shoes and lined waterproof shorts make it easy for me to get dry... along with a radiator in my office!0

I wear glasses and a helmet with a visor (or peak? A spesh Instinct, anyway) and never been bothered with rain for the actual riding. Too right about the puddles/potholes though - a real pain in the arse!0

I don't like to wear contacts just for the journey, as they are disposables (expensive astigmatism ones) and it seems a bit of a waste. My helmet has a peak but in heavy rain they always get splashed eventually.
Will get around to getting a cycling cap one of these days, shame I missed the freebie ones!
As for those puddles on the left hand side, there were some really big ones this morning. I just signalled to the drivers just I was moving out, checked they were letting me go and went around it. Maybe they felt sorry for me but they were quite good about letting me go, I waved thank you to them0 -
I really enjoyed the ride in the rain this morning.
I love to look at all the peds huddled under a bus shelter, waiting for a bus. Especially when I know they have at least another 10 minute wait :twisted:0 -
Going out for a leisure ride in the rain doesn't bother me, but I'm not so keen on commuting in the rain. I don't think heavy traffic, bicycles and rain are the best of combinations, especially if the riding is happening at night. Having said that, I have been known to commute in the rain on the bike, but not regularly.0

I don't mind getting wet, it's just the flotsam and jetsam gets washed into the road and it becomes slippery so you can't lean in and really enjoy corners
but as already said it really makes you appr dry daysPurveyor of sonic doom

I'm an assistant editor. Publishing doesn't pay enough for me to randomly waste contact lenses for a half-hour journey :roll:0

Don't mind the rain on the way home but on the way to work can be a bit of a pain having to completely dry everything before end of the day.
The only weather I actually hate is headwind. Had a horrible one yesterday and its so frustrating going about 2/3 your normal speed (feels like it anyways) for more effort.0 -

I quite enjoy riding in the rain, I've actually found it makes me more tolerant of the weather!
I had one time during the late summer when I'd commuted in my regular attire of sleeveless t shirt and cycle shorts and it rained on my way home :-) I got all manor of odd looks from people as I pedaled past quite under-dressed for the weather!!
I do remember reading once that there's nothing quite as liberating or as fun as riding in the rain when your not bothered how wet you get, after all once your wet, more water doesn't hurt and skin is waterproof! I guess my only gripes are the ones already mentioned of glasses getting sprayed and hidden potholes :-P0 -
I like it.........I always feel faster when it's wet.
It's not great when you cannot feel your hands and feet though.
Edit: cannot spell0
