First time I've chickened out today and got the wife to drive me in....

Looking out the office window ( Macclesfield ) the trees look like they're about to uproot and the noise is horrendous, don't regret not cycling in one little bit.....
  • I'm getting sick of this wind mind you. I just want to ride and not to have push along at about 13mph on the drops

Cycled to work today. Trees down everywhere.

My glasses were all steam up at one point, I saw what I thought was a puddle in front of me, turned out to be most of a fir tree. I'm glad I decided to not cycle through that puddle.

As I got close to work, a narrow road under a railway was blocked by a number of trees. Cars couldn't get through, but I could, ha!

Apparently c.28-30 mph here - and that I think about the limit in safety terms. Straight headwind wasn't too bad this a.m., but sideways gusts near to outright dangerous in fast traffic. Kept to cycle paths where possible - one 3' sideways excursion on to grass would have been unpleasant if alongside an artic!

Good exercise on the fixed, though!

Wasn't too bad in Manchester - well for my Commuter MTB - the road bikes are far too light and twitchy. I sent an email to some old work colleagues in Warrington as the M6 Thelwall was shut....took them hours to get to work - I said - cycled in on time today.....had loads of 'nutter' comments back. Looking forward to the wind assisted ride back to the East..... :D
  • its about 30mph with gusts to about 50 mph down here today and i nearly got blown of the road 3 times in quick succession by some almighty sidewind gusts just outside my office. its just as well i wasn't going the other way or i could easily have been pushed into the path of a car or lorry.

still i'm going to fly on the way home :D

A new personal best this morning thanks to a 30 mph tailwind (according to metcheck) all the way. Seems to have eased up for the journey home.
