Heh, I dont post much on this site anymore but I do come back every now and then.

Not being a small bloke 6ft and 17st (it is coming down!!!!) I tend to find the phrase "get out of the car and say that again.." (clean version) tends to stop most arguments..... I'm going to be stitching some emery cloth to the outside of some gloves. Proper 60 grit coarse stuff and if they get too close...... well I had to fend off the car. Got to remember NOT to wipe the nose on the gloves tho!
I was shocked myself at some of the reactions to cyclists from the people in wheeled boxes- 2, 3, 4, 5 seconds..... is it worth all the agro?
One bloke stopped after me flipping the bird at him, red rag and bull are words coming to mind- I stood up in the pedals and accelerated- he saw I was up for it and legged it. i found it was a guy at work! So a quiet word was spoken.

Saying that, its a small minority of drivers like this. Most are pretty good, the ones that really scare me are the ones that say" I didn't see you."

Do you commute through Warrington? I find it pretty bad some days.

(Nice picture of the Tower in your photos!)

Not always, works that hectic at the moment, I really can't be arsed getting up at 5.30 ish to getinto work for 7- much easier to go by car at the moment. Mind you, I avoid Bridgefoot like the plague in the evenings and go through Latchford and down Kingsway instead. Summer commute home is much more pleasant, going thro' Daresbury, Hatton, Strtton etc....
The tower is where I work, commute along the towpath is very pleasant from spring thro' autumn.

Ratty - some lovely bikes in your pics!

I'm not in the slightest bit large (5'8", 11.5 stone) but am a national competing kickboxer (best was only 4th in the UK though) and lifelong martial arts bore.

Dont know how to quote two people
But thanks for the kind comments about the bikes, some have been sold on now and some have been reborn.. need to post up some more...

  • ...Plax, take his number and report him...

Does this ever achieve anything? I'm sure the harassment is a different matter but there have been other threads here where people have mentioned taking number plates and reporting people. If someone's driving badly and I report them will the police actually do anything? Do people have experience of this? What can/can't we achieve by reporting people?

Also, is it really wise that Plax does this? If the guys get a slap on the wrist won't this have potential to make them more troublesome?

  • I agree that the drivers response was totally out of order...but not unexpected nowadays.

There really is a hatred of cyclists amongst some drivers. I was on the BBC have your say site yesterday on a discussion about driving with a mobile phone. The number of people that somehow turned it into a rant against all cyclists was a pityful sight.

The funny thing is that they really do think that all of the problems they experience when on the roads are due to cyclists...it's quit funny really, if you can help yourself from depairing at the slow decline of the human race that is

Have a look at this if you are bored...and feel like being annoyed...
