I like the timing mats - are they new 'dibber'?

I did a few sportives last year and they were mostly timed using the dibber method of shoving your strapped-on thing into a special box at each station.
I think the special box things looked a bit like a miniature 'oraq' (from Blakes 7).

I think they will eventually publish the split times in a spreadsheet from what they did last year.

It's like a tri, cougie, but the sort where rather than giving you splits for swim, T1, bike, T2, run they just time you out of transition giving you splits for swim+T1, bike+T2, run

There's some odd times in the mix there.

I missed the mat at the second stop. (I was too busy trying to catch my team mates up.) Yet I have a time.

I dont think it matters that you missed a mat on the way round - so long as you hit the mat at the finish. I guess your mates could argue that you took a short cut tho ?

I don't know...I thought it was just that they couldn't grasp that "Bryony" is a girl's name! But if it's happened to Poppette as well, maybe it's not that, maybe they just did the spreadsheet in a rush...

I have emailed them, anyway, in the hope that my gender can be altered! :D :?

Who knows, I think it is obviously a girls name, maybeit is because you are so fast?

Does anyone know how much climbing there was on the long route, I'm probably being dumb but I can't find it on the website.

:? Compare that with 3088m over 81 miles in the Legbreaker - aaaaagh! :D

Oh well, plenty of time between now and then...think I will go and get on my bike...

Just had a read through thread. Well done to all those who got round - made more difficult by 7 signs taken north of Congleton (long route). Being mainly in opulent and leafy Cheshire It is a complicated route compared to some 'wild' sportives require just an armful of arrows. Consequently the Cat has a good few turn-offs which means lots of arrows. Lots of arrows means more potential to miss one (that's all it takes) if you are riding and nick them if you are a that way inclined.

Incidentally, Cheshire police are looking into the issue of the run of 7 stolen signs north of Congleton which did dampen the ride for a few. With no firm evidence it will be difficult for them.

Interest and entry demand far outstripped supply this year but we plan a few changes for next years event - don't worry (actually do worry!) we plan to keep Mow Cop in and add a few more new features.

Again, well done folk! - it's tough enough for March. (there was snow the weekend before and the weekend after on Mow Cop!)

For anyone still really keen on Mow Cop, how about running it ?

The 'killer mile' race up it has taken place since the early 80's and the current record is 6:12
(how fast did you go up on it on a bike ? I didn't time myself but I reckon I was a bit slower than that...)
