If I search my conscience I guess in Vino's defense, he brightened up many a dull race. I would also observe that during 'that' Albi time trial, he displayed the sort of bike handling skills that no amount of blood transfusions will provide. He stayed on, on a technical course, in the rain with fresh injuries to remind him of a nasty crash. Not even my hero Cancellara could do that!
For me Kashekin has broken even the code of honour among thieves with his attack on the entire system...he's a right bastard IMO...worse than a Tyler Hamilon type by far. Who wouldn't deny when they will bring shame to their family if they admit? Still, at least Vino has been reasonable...not doing a sInkewitz style bargain..no collapsing of teams or the entire sport...just leaving a bit bitter is how Vino has taken it. I still rate Vino, and Ullrich..as I do Armstrong, ...not sure about Basso as he insulted us with his intent to dope0 -
Yeahbut, Dave, you are creating an unequal playing field there aren't you?0

Perhaps, I still think Vino could have done a heck of a lot of damage on the way out...he's gone quletly IMO and saved people their jobs...what's better? Sinkewitz threatening everyone with unemployment or Vino going quietly? I'm neutral on ths, omerta is bad...but surely the guys will be getting the message now to ease off on the doping?0 -
I'd prefer Sinkewitz or at leas the information he has. Vino or others like him simply protect all the structures that support doping. Look at T-Mob, the whole unedifying story is coming out now. Without Sinkewitz going public we'd all be in the dark mulling over our suspicions.0

Dave_1 wrote:well, I have to say, I liked Vino's attitude at places...the places he attacked...he was good, and ...I bet his 2003 TDF podium was a relatively fair reflection of his natural ability..as all the top guys seem to be doing it, so, at least he has not done the same as his buddy on Astana which is try to bring down the entire sport on one fell swoop
As linked in Vino has a moan thread..well I spoke too soon about Vino...perhaps he won't step so quietly off the stage after all... He's made some quite threatening noises there to his former peer group or management at DS level I think.....time will tell, my guess he will not implicate Ullrich but will go for others..who might he hurt with his memoires?
