Don't.

Surely the easiest way to put this trader to rest is for loads of us to set up snide Ebay accounts and win everything he sells (an then not pay etc). That's the only way this outfit will take notice....probably illegal though?0

Erm....well I've used Number1bikebits 2 times and DHCyclesport 6 times on Ebay and had no problems at all with either !
Maybe I was one of the lucky ones ? :?0 -

I have used dave hinde several times before in the past and have had no problems apart from a 'hand made wheel' which I bought years ago and it fell apart after 6 months or so but it was a cheap wheel so no probs there. I generally use wiggle for 90% of online cycling related goods and found chain reaction excellent as well.
I would not hesitate to use dave hinde again and I have also used ribble which also receives bad press on this forum and again I got excellent service.Brian B.0 -

I have had nothing but excellent service and prices from Ribble.Mañana0 -
If it had been a cheap machine built wheel I could understand your satisfaction with it falling apart after 6 months - the fact that it was hand built and fell apart means their build quality is rubbish - unless there was actual component failure! Hinde's wheels are well known to be poorly built.
It also surprises me that you would be happy using a business that refers to its customers as "lying scum, filth" etc, regardless of whether you have escaped such abuse. (Note, the bad press here includes their own feedback - so it is straight from the horses mouth). They have also been adjudicated against by the ASA, so it is more than just about a few disgruntled customers.
Ribble's variable performance in the past never reached the excesses of Hinde, and I gather their operation is now achieving reasonable standards of service.0 -
DH Cyclesport is run by a guy called Dave Harding. Nice bloke, easy to deal with AND to reiterate is in Southampton.
AFAIK he has absolutely no connection with Dave Hinde.0 -

Quite happy to use Ribble - have heard the bad reports about them, but they don't get near DH, and in fact I've heard very little negative recently, so it seems they've got their act together. In any case they were just incompetent rather than downright evil. Had to wait a week or so for a delivery, but not too worried by that, as I wasn't expecting them to have stock of what I ordered.0 -

Nope, as a high feedback member myself, I have read the comments left by others on the service they received from them, more worrying in is the comments he makes about his customers, you have to be very street wise on ebay and my street sense says keep away, ebay do not help the situation by allowing sellers and buyers to mutually remove bad feedback, so hinding the true situation DHC are excellent0

DH Cyclesport are fine - I've used them as well - just unfortunate that it has the same initials as that sham in Northwich !0
-
You need to change your name, Dave Harding!0
-
Could he not change his name to say Number 2 bike bits, we then know who the shister is! 1 bad 2 good0
-
Perhaps everyone that has problems with DH should contact trading standards. Thanks for the warnings.0

Back to the OP - the R600 chainset is in fact Ultegra spec - any Shimano serial numbers in the 600/6000 series are equivalent.
But I wouldn't go near Hinde even if they were the last bike shop in the world!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
Although a lot of his stuff is slightly cheaper, I wouldn’t encourage this type of person. Looking at some of the comments he's made, they're just rude. (Funny how in over 13,000 transactions, not once does it appear to be his fault)
Seems a very precarious way to run a business when you treat your customers so badly.0 -
Just Google 'Dave Hinde trading standards' and see what glories you can find...
Worrying, and it's been going on for several years
Yes, they're not DHCyclesport, in fact they seem to be attacking them, I've seen a few number1bikebits eBay listings where they're saying e.g. our price = 24.99 DHCyclesport = 29.99
- yet DHCyclesport are not selling it for 29.99, they're selling it for...25.00
Right now they have listings with
Woolyhatshop Price £17.99 + Post - Buy For Less @ No1
and
Wiggle price £89.99 - Buy For Less @ No1
and
Evans Cycles Price £54.99 - Buy For Less @ No1
I live about 10 miles away and don't buy there.0 -
So why doesn't everybody ring up Cycling Weekly and cancel their sub or refuse to shop purchase until they refuse his add, I dont know how much his add costs but there is a point at which it becomes uneconomical for them to take tainted lucre. I have not bought the mag for two years and that was a major part of my decision not to buy. he also has a preferred business partner status on Road Cycling UK and ultimately I'm am only led to believe that the business is corrupt at the core. Everyone in the business knows exactly what he is and just like the drugs issue there is an omerta in operation. That is not to suggest that there are no honest dealers out there but life has taught me that you don't get rich being nice to everyone.
There is a similar but different issue with magazines that have the scratch cards where you always win but must ring(£10 premium rate number) for your useless or almost unobtainable prize, I look inside and if they are in there I put it back. The publisher is openly telling you and I that we are stupid by even considering putting such con literature in the magazine, cycling mags do contain them.0 -

wise words, don key, if a sandwich bar put a piece of sh1t between the slices of bread, we wouldn't buy the product. So why do we pay money for magazines that enclose (and therefore endorse) dodgy scams?0 -
Simmilar to Don Key the reason I stopped buying Cycling Weekly was because of Dave HInde's ad, though to be honest Dave Hinde has done me a favour on that one as there was never much in it worth reading anyway.
As for contacting trading standards - as James at Dave Hinde laughed down the phone at me - go ahead they are completely powerless - I did and they were.
it's a hard life if you don't weaken.0 -

likewise - only ever had great service from DHCyclesport.
Never used Dave Hinde, although I'm tempted to do so - just for the experience...0 -
Yes DH Cyclesport are excellent.
Never used Dave Hinde but never would after what I've heard on here.
Had to laugh at the recent ad in Cycling Plus where he 'quotes' a 'top cycling manufacturer' as saying ..."it's no use, we just can't compete on price and quality with Dave"!!!!!!!!!
Made me chuckle.0 -
