  • We did a planned away day from Llangollen to do 60 miles round the Berwyn Hills. It was okay for the first hour then it started to rain which turned to sleet and then snow on the tops. There were 8 of us and we had 2 punctures which is not nice in those conditions. We stopped for soup and toasties in a pub but we were all very cold and wet by the time we arrived back in Llangollen. It would have been a great ride in the summer but a mistake tis time of the year.
  • I have raced before and got to mid second cat and ranked 5th in my class in the south and 54th overall in the league in my first and only season.

Its a long story but I always train like I'm still racing just in case so 6 days a week with at least one century.

  • Saturday morning in S. Cheshire was lovely, until I left the house with only a baselayer and windproof. After 2 hours in the cold and damp, I limped home. Got chilled to the core and didn't enjoy my ride. Sunday was spent as a couch tuber. Why do we do this? The old lady thinks I'm slightly mad.
    We need a bigger boat.

I became a temporary convert to BBC darts coverage for the afternoon, plus I made a start on the bookshelf DIY project that I've been nagged about for about 5 years.

yehhhh, love your avatar and name. That's my favourite film. I'm in Altrincham but born at Leighton and lived in Sandbach. Are you anywhere round there?

Went out with a mate on my newly spruced up winter MTB- got absolutely soaked! Great fun though, he's trying to get more into cycling but is still reasonably fit, so had decent ride. Not sure i'd have motivated myself to go out in it on my own, but was fine with a mate. (mind you, my fingers were going white by the time i got back- couldn't change for last 3 miles!!)
  • Hey Popette - Based out of Nantwich and surrounding flat lands. Haven't done much riding north of home, mostly west and south. We did some riding up around Jodrell Bank the other week tho. Quite posh surrounds. "Farewell and ado to you fair Spanish lady."

The Manchester 100 went through Nantwich - there was some lovely cycling to be had around there. I went past the boot and slipper, which bought back childhood memories.
It was definitely "show me the way to go home" on Sunday in the crappy weather though.
