Winter Training Help!

Hi all
being pretty new to this I could do with a bit of advice from you knowledgeable types....
I'm finding it difficult to get out on the bike on weekends due to various things going on, and its just too dark after work during the week. I was thinking of maybe getting a turbo trainer or an exercise bike - herein lies the question - does it matter which?
I thought maybe a cheapish exercise bike set up in the corner by the telly would be helpful to increase/maintain fitness over the winter. Apart from the 'real' feeling of riding a proper road bike on a turbo trainer, are there any other benefits?
Many thanks in advance...

Unless you're just looking to keep off teh sofa rather than improve bike rifing capacity I'd give the exercise bike a miss and go for a trainer. Benefits?
Own bike, better position, greater training possibilities etc etc0 -
and spend at least £100 so that you'll get one that is stable and offers sufficient resistance to give you a proper workout not only now, but in months/years to come when you get fitter and stronger. Other than that choose one that looks pretty (as good as any other way of selecting them)0
