How much is my bike worth? Please

I've watched this post with interest.
I'm afraid to say the bike covered more then 250miles. The wheels however look new. Price wise I'm afraid would be around £250 - 300. If you got £400 be very happy.Paul0 -

Sorry, i'm very persistant and like to argue my point :P
You have asked for an estimate of what the bike is worth because as you said, you don't know. Why are you now trying to argue that it is worth more?
The outer chainring is quite well worn as someone has already pointed out. That is a fairly good indicator of the amount of use that the bike has seen. It could have been swapped for a newer one but it would be unlikely that someone would have changed it for a worn one.
250 miles is about what a reasonable club rider will ride in a week anyway.
Hypocrisy is only a bad thing in other people.0 -
About £250 is about right sorry mate :? I recently sold a couple of road bikes which were unused, a Bianchi mega pro XL ( scandium frame ) Ultegra, Dura Ace mix went for £370 on ebay.
A Pinarello Paris again unused although it was a 2001 frame so the all Aluminium one but still a £1100 frame in its day, Rolf Sestrier wheels £500 in their day, FULL 9 speed Dura Ace groupset even the seatpost
All as new never been ridden and it went for something like £700 or £800 which I was quite happy with but I've actually got another one wrapped up in bubble wrap in my parents loft but I think its going to be used as a winter training bike :shock:We're running the London Marathon in aid of visually impaired children please sponsor us if you can at http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/HelenJonesVICTA0 -
Fat Pants wrote:I'm looking to sell it any way possible. I'd want around 500 for it, as that's most probably half the price of it new. But as much over 350 as i can get really, i don't wanna just sell it cos someone offers me 350, as it's worth so much more.
For reference I agree with the rest - no way you'll get anywhere near £500 for that. They might be nice wheels, but not really special, and they're not worth £300 2nd hand (you might get £150 for them separately if you do well!) Meanwhile that's an old groupset showing plenty of signs of wear - eg corrosion on that STI lever which you only get after LOTS of use. Either an old or low level frame (can't be bothered to check which, but I suspect the former) which isn't really that desirable nowadays. It's really not worth what you think it is - you can after all get a brand new Ribble alu bike with 10-speed 105 (rather than the 9-speed on that) for £700!0 -
Damn it.
Erm, i'm not trying to make money, i just want to make my money back and get the best price for it, even though i only paid 300 for it.0 -
take a step back.
think how much 300pounds is!0 -
Read as: It's only worth 300 quid so stop saying 'you ONLY paid 300 for it'?0

Haha, they're awesome though, have you ever done downhilling/ general hucking a big rig off of a jump? SOOO fun.0

better still, donate it to charity. 1pound feeds a child for a whole Month!0

better to keep it? and save for MT bike, or downhiller, wtever.
then u will have both? so u can do road cycling now and again... with club, or whoever, if u need to commute fast, but ur car is stolen, u will have a racing bike!0 -
emaichael, i'm quite like that when it comes to selling things, if i don't get what i want/enough i'll keep it, spose i'll just have to save up and probably get money for christmas and hope this guy still has the Iron Horse Yakuza i want for 600.0

Couple of points - Bianchi might want you to think they're a premium brand - but they're not - the abundant quality problems means thats most specialist dealers don't go near them - warranty claims cost money and reputation. Whilst you're saying this bike new might have cost £1000 about 5 years ago - but a grand today buys you a carbon frame and better kit - today, it's only worth about £300 tops and that's provided you can find someone who's prepared to pay that much. If you do plan to sell it, put some clean bar tape on, put the saddle in the right position and remove the pedals.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
