Upper hamstring pain

Lately the top of my left hamstring has begin to hurt when training. It isn't excruciating, just a dull pain that comes after warm-up then seems to recede as the ride progresses. A friend of mine says that it is not uncommon for this to be related to a low saddle.

Any thoughts on that claim, or on sore tops-of-hamstrings in general? Is there a Doctor in the house?!

I'm no doctor but I've always found that if your hamstrings hurt then your saddle is too high. If the front of your knee hurts then the saddle is usually too low usually.

The fact that the pain only occurs at the beginning of the ride may mean that you need to do some stretching exercises pre-ride.

LOL. If I raise my saddle too high my left knee hurts. Typical, eh? It's an old injury sustained on the rugby field, FYI.

I do stretch comprehensively before exercise but it may well be as simple as me not warming-up sufficiently. I'll keep an eye on it for now.

    Thanks for the reply.
