Lost my temper this morning...

Funny how a bad experience in the morning can set the tone for the rest of the day - I bet you're wishing you'd never bothered with this thread, Spasi!0

your definitely right homercles,
I went past him when it was almost two lanes, there is a bus stop which is almost a bus lane which is what i used to go past him. I did not push past him, i did sit behind him until it was safe to go past, and i used a lane that i always ride in to go past him.
Maybe i shouldnt of gone past him at all and would still be sitting behind him now. I am patient on the road normally but he was doing almost half the speed limit and even though im no speed demon i knew i could safely go past him and stay a safe distance in front of him.
I probably have damaged his confidence but i didn't react in a manner that caused anyone danger or abuse. So in this instance i don't think i was in the wrong. Had he been doing 20mph or more i wouldnt have gone past him.
I would love to see how all these people on here who are quite happily sitting on their high horses about it would react in the same situation. Especially those that commute and can easily do 30mph on the flat and keep up with traffic.
All i wanted to do was vent to people who might have been in similar situations and would understand the situation otherwise id of vented at someone in the office who wouldnt have had a clue what i was talking about. In the end all ive done is create an argument and a bad name for myself when i did nothing wrong. Kindly fuck off and let me enjoy my Jewish New Year so to all my fellow Jews on here Shana Tova to the rest Happy New Year.BMC TM01 - FCN 0

The problem is not that you overtook him. For me the problem is that you get annoyed at trivia. There's someone in (supposedly) quite a bit of stress, learning to drive. Why get all angry and worked up over that is beyond me. Either overtake safely or stay behind and chill out. I drive almost every day (and cycle almost everyday) and I learned to be quite tolerant of learner drivers. My wife is learning to drive and I can easily imagine her in a similar situation, with some impatient dork hooting his horn in the race to the next set of traffic lights.0

i never let him know i was annoyed thats what people are missing in this story, i only allowed myself to vent when i posted this first message.

can understand your frustration, but as already been said "chill out bro" We don't like car driver's agression when we slow them down, it's got to work both ways mate.Too much agression on our roads and not enough love and understanding0

Yeah bad name,
That last bit kinda reinforces the image doesn't it?
Read your original post again then tell us you didn't sound like an impatient fool, who was basically bullying a learner driver.
Your further explanation adds to the story, almost to the point of changing the whole scenario.
So for my original response, I apologise, but and here goes, don't make yourself sound like a fool and people generally won't treat you like one.
But hey ho......Happy New Year!Cycle tracks will abound in Utopia. ~H.G. Wells

"There are few situations so bad that you can't make them a whole lot worse by losing your temper."This post contains traces of nuts.0

Come on Jakob and others, surely there's no need to go so over the top with Spasi. Sure, he made a mistake in becoming so impatient and loosing his temper, but all credit to him for still riding safely and relatively carefully in spite of his emotional state.0

Well, do you think it qualifies his statement that he is a good car driver, when he hasn't even passed his test?...and if he loses his temper like that on a bicycle, what will happen when he's in a car?
Sure, the situation is handled innocently enough, but he should not blame the learner-driver!.0 -

Oh I'm quite sympathetic to your viewpoint Jakob! I reckon he's probably learnt the lesson from his mistake by now is all.0

Glad to hear it because your attitude sucks. Especially with the telling everyone to "fcuk off" because they don't agree with you.*´¨)

C'mon, Jakob! give him a break!
I think the point is that he didn't lose his temper, he silently fumed. Well, until he posted here where he audibly (? hmm - what's the forum equivalent of audible?) fumed.
Now, I'm a big fan of giving learner drivers a lot of leeway, as it wasn't all that long since I was one, and I'm still not a particularly confident driver. However, Spasy seems to have acted appropriately at the time, and although we may disagree with his feelings on the matter now, I can't see that we can attack him for them.0
