  • Im back whoop whoop!

Had an exam resit so needed to revise - bike radar/ facebook/ myspace/ ebay are all things to avoid if one is trying to revise!

    Good to be back :D

YAY! The foxy forum femme fatale is back (ooh, alliteration this early in the day).
Hope that the resit went better than its predecessor
Whatchu been up to then? Studenty debauchery no doubt

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!
  • the resit seemed to go ok thanks.

I only had 2 hours sleep the night before and no time for breakfast so the few drinks I had in the pub after made me rather merry.

I noticed that there is a huge number of cyclist in brighton, cant wait to get back down there :D

Bet you wouldn't have asked if Jonesy wasn't attractive, young and female
    I have pain!

I know a few people who say this about Sam's - presumably something to do with the salts (calcium sulphate, etc.) in their well water? I seem to be immune from it and have always found their beer very drinkable, good-value stuff with no side-effects (apart from the obvious side-effect of getting plastered).

  • to be fair now that I don't try and drink 8 a night like in my younger days the side effects seem to have amazingly dissapered

Are you refering to the pub by the river in York :?:

King's Arms? Only ever been in it once, maybe twice. Of the two city-centre Sam's houses, always preferred the flood-free Hansom Cab myself. A little way outside the walls, the Sea Horse - I once worked behind the bar there - always served a decent pint too. Could quite happily go off on a lengthy discourse about York pubs here, having sampled more than my fair share!

Is kings arms the one with the flood levels drawn on a plank near the bar? Hansom cab is in the town on a street 'near' the fountain? Yes/No?

I suspect Miss Jones is laying off the internet usage today owing to a post exam sore head

    Correct in both cases.

  • hello everyone - how was the weekend?

I went to a carboot sale and got rid of loads of my old junk and then went to the pub to meet up with some old mates. Feeling a tad sunburnt today.
  • Alright thanks. Watched englands rather dissapointing result against USA in the rugby  then had a few beers. 54miles in under three hours with the club yesterday so legs a bit heavy today.

Knackered my right achilles tendon so no cycling for me.
Doctor said it had become inflamed and so I had better rest it and chew on Ibuprofen tablets as though they were going out of fashion.
Really bummed about this, but the possibility of riding and then rupturing said tendon was not too appealing.

Where did you get sun burned then Jonesey?

Not sure if the correct answer to this "in a large field" or "on my face and right arm"

Sorry if you were hoping for a more exciting answer but I tend not to parade around half naked at carboot sales!

I think this is more in line with the answer they were hoping for

Nothing salacious about my enquiry - it's you lot that are getting all smutty.
If Jonesey doesn't want to parade around half-naked at a car boot sale then good for her I say
As for sun-burn, I ruddy hate it! Never go anywhere without my Factor60! As a consequence, I have a very pale and unhealthy look about me, but at least I won't be popping my clogs because of a malignant melonoma 8)

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!
  • You can get factor 60?! I thought the only thing above my sun splat of choice (f50) was a set of overalls and a welder's mask! Factor fifty is like sunbathing in a shed, does the sixty actually make you paler?!

As for young ladies not parading round car boots half naked - I knew there was a reason I'd avoided them all these years! I once remember, on a cold and wintry lunch hour taking a short cut through the local market on 'Craft day'. Me and my two colleagues were the only punters in the place so all the stall holders were looking at us. My blood ran cold as I heard one of my colleagues' voice echo around the place saying:

'You know, they call it a craft market but really it's just all sh*t!'

I barely escaped with my life!

    Interesting marketing ploy though!

  • Seen as none of us have never been to one perhaps they do have half naked women. I have often wondered at the mentaility of people who spend August bank holiday at car boot sales. When they sat down and thought about how they could best spend there last 'gifted' day off before Xmas it worried me that was the best they could come up with. Perhaps it turns out we have been missing a treat all these years :wink:

    You never know I suppose.
Still, given the tat that is normally on display at such events I doubt that the quality of the half-naked women would be up to much
