  • Are your hamstrings tight? I think it's probably down to tight hamstrings. Buy a good book on stretching and learn to stretch safely.

I had exacty this problem many moons ago. My GP reckoned I has arthritis and put me on a long term Brufen prescription. I eventually went to see a physio, and she correctly diagnosed the tight hamstring problem in minutes.

Needless to say, I don't bother with my gp any more for sporting injuries. :x

    Good luck sorting your problem.

It could be an inflamed cruciate ligament - the bits that cross over behind yr knee. They are easy to inflame when they rub or even tear when over-stretched - both of which ended my rugby 'career'. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is rest. If you have a tendency to develop this type of problem ( like tennis elbow ), you have to take it easy and can never push yourself as much as you'd like to or it becomes even more frequent. I hope it's something else.
