Chester Step Test - questions

Did the Chester step test yesterday for a medical & if they got my VO2 max correct I am under-performing.
Is there a most likely cause from the following or would it be a combination of:
- Inherent testing inaccuracies
- Poor bike set up
- Poor technique
- Failing to push myself hard enough
- Over-simplified predictions based on VO2 max
Want to get faster on 2 wheels and 2 feet.
All advice welcome.

I have no idea what the "Chester Step Test" is... however,
1) VO2max is exercise modality dependent
2) it's a complete waste of time extrapolating from one modality to another, especially when the former is unlikely to have *actually* tested VO2max (i.e., analysed expired respiratory gases)
3) if you want to know your cycling VO2max, get it measured properly
4) knowing your cycling VO2max, isn't that important... it's more important to know your MAP (maximal aerobic power), which loosely is the power associated with the end of the VO2max test using a specific protocol
