Eating to aid injury recovery

A chance encounter with a tractor and a tricky patch of gravel has given me some rather painful injuries - shoulder dislocation, badly sprained thumb/wrist, fairly nasty cuts and friction burns on my right arm and leg as I avoided the tractor and tried to plough my own furrow through the tarmac. Thankfully, a helmet saved me from being scalped and gloves kept my palms from being shredded, but boy do I ache!
The good thing is that my bike got off lightly with only a few minor scrapes but I won't be able to get back in the saddle again for a few weeks until the bandages come off.
I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips they had on eating to aid recovery - I'm cutting down on the amount of carbs I eat as I now can't burn anything off with exercise but wondered if I should shift things towards more protein to help my injuries heal or am I better off sticking to a fully balanced diet?
Any ideas?

BAlanced is best - if you're worried about weight cut down amounts but not mix and use veggies to 'fill up on' - eg veggie soup (in summer? -cold?). Body repairs take a bit of energy but probably not as much as you were using when cycling!
A bit more protein might help recovery and will help with feeling full but don't overdo it - 1,5g per kg body weight is plenty.
Hope everything heals well!
