Should he have to prove it? I find it interesting that these forums are a feeding ground for baseless rumours. You assume that because he is managed by Tony Rominger, that he therefore is coached by Dr Ferrari and therefore is a dopped rider? Give me a break! And this goes for any rider.......assume they're clean until proven otherwise. If they are found to have cheated then ban them for life. Do you believe everything you read???????

    Sound advice.

But we assumed Ullrich was clean. Pantani. Mayo. Vino. Kasheckin. Heras. Basso. Landis. I could name so many more riders. When you see riders putting in suspect performances, climbing faster than known EPO cheats, some of us get cynical. Not so much a case of "once bitten, twice shy" but getting bitten over and over again, of giving the benefit of the doubt to so many.

So it becomes a guessing game. We want to believe in these riders but time after time the posterboys of cycling get exposed as cheats and liars.

I don't know if Evans is coached by Ferrari. If he was, I'd be very saddened. Being managed by Tony Rominger isn't as bad, since Rominger works for sports management group IMG, a company that manages the affairs of many athletes.

I've long given up on believing any rider is clean until proven otherwise, especially when it comes to finishing on the podium of a three week stage race. Recent history would suggest that my approach is sounder than yours I'm afraid.

I don't know if Evans is clean or not. However, if he is managed by Rominger that would raise concerns with me, given who else he manages. Suspicions continue that he has some kind of relationship with Dr Ferrari so if Evans does want to be credible then, in the current climate, he has to categorically state that he doesn't have such a relationship.

I'm sorry if that offends your sensibilities but I refuse to believe riders are clean simply because they seem like a nice chap or speak English as a first language or any other such spurious evidence.

I did a bit of digging

    http://www.cadel.com.au/

Diary entry for July 31'st he say outright the media reports were wrong and he's not coached by people with reputations.

'Dr' youre on a losing battle here. Forum 'rules' seem to state that:

    - any riders who finishes in the top 5 of any stage or race are doping.
    - if you beat a rider known to have doped, you are doping
    - any riders from any easter bloc country, italy, USA or spain are doping
    - any rider whos DS or manager who used to ride for a team even slightly connected with doping is obviously doping
    - Greg LeMond always tells the truth and never doped, even though he falls into category 2 above
    - Any rider associated with any team that has ever had a rider found guilty of doping is of course doping
    - if you're british you couldnt possibly ever think of doing something so terrible, other than D Millar who is truly repentent and now 'leads' a fight against doping, and of course will not do it again...
    dont knock on death\'s door.....

Ring the bell and leg it...that really pi**es him off....

BigDawg's first three probably aren't that far wide of the mark.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
  • I agree, he is not far from the truth with the first three at all.
