Well, Cadel has been moaning about how crappy Predictor have been in the mountains... he now has Robbie McEwen's entire sprint train to lead him out tomorrow :D

Could that scenario actually play out !!!???...

Nah. The real sprinters still have unfinished business.

Its more likely that Disco will use Big George to drag Levi up in an intermediate spint and gain enough time to leapfrog Cadel. However I don't believe either will happen. Cadel doesn't stand a chance in the main gallop against the proper sprinters and he needs to win that. to get sufficent time bonuses.

All the commentary warning signs are there.

'The TT of his life. Up and down TT form. A superhuman effort. Incredible, unbelievable'.

Superlatives did for Rasmussen. Will Levi's effort go down in history the same way?

If not, then I will have to look at his aero position more closely and adopt it.

Would there be snide comments if Evans had won it?

What, with the time he posted, or with a time faster than LL?

I don't think it was anything out of the ordinary for Levi. He's a very good tester and that new TT position has already paid dividends this year. Over 55km he won by less than a minute and there was a reasonable spread of times in the top 10. Also, towards the end of a Tour, the high GC placers show well in a TT. Their overall GC position is indicative of how they have responded over three weeks and how they are better able to manage their energy. Cancellara and Millar have suffered, particularly in the Pyrenees and I think they are still paying the price.

I'd be decidedly more suspicious if the stage was won by, say, a non-tester or someone who has spent the last week grovelling at the back of the field.

Yes, you can almost sense that a little voice in the commentator's brain is saying 'that's just too good to be true'.

There were some seriously impressive performances put in during that TT and then Levi makes everyone look like they were dawdling.

I really don't want to say this, but I watched with a mounting sense of disbelief. Maybe my scepticism is inevitable after day upon day of doping stories.

The 20-25km/h tailwind did help today. And Leipheimer's TT position is better than Evans' or Contador's.

I actually enjoyed it being so close.

Dunno which channel you were watching it on, but I reckon Ligget is the least cynical commentator out there - especially when it comes to the americans.

    Same time as Levi,

As others have said, it's not as if he's a terrible tester. He's held is own against Ullrich in the past.

Everyone assumed Wiggins could do a good ride today - And have a look at the Dauphine prologue

    1 Bradley Wiggins (GBr) Cofidis 4.50.42 (52.138 km/h)
2 Levi Leipheimer (USA) Discovery Channel 0.01.45

He's also won plenty of TT's in his time. And the mental pressure on him today was considerably less than Cadel and Bertie had to face which can only help. Cadel even said in one of his interviews that he thought Levi could do it.

That said, you just don't know.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
