Here's a pic of my Merlin Malt 4 I took yesterday. It's certainly a great bike to ride, lots of fun and very lively.


BTW I think Scubar's Marin looks great!

Yep, thats them..... if you're thinking of getting some, look around. I picked them up for £40 - some places are still charging £90!

I don't know what it is about those particular Marin frames but the design just looks great to me. Especially in Cheesey's colour
I've got to admit that Viper frame looks awesome.

this was taken straight out of the shop so excuse the bell and dodgy reflectors!

any tips on upgrading this bike? i have had it 3 months now and about to take it in for it's free service and get the headtube chopped down. got some cash to spend on upgrading it. i think the wheels and hubs are a bit shite!

Two upgraded Giants at the moment - 2005 XTC 3, and a 07 Trance 2.

Both with Marzocchi forks (pro ETA and a pro SL)

My 06 Stumpy 06 comp... not much changed; just the contact-points (new saddle, tyres, stem, seatpost)

the carbon weave on that looks huge, never seen one that big. is it better to have a larger weave?

X Isle - How much tyrre clearance do you have? Can't you fit a big chain stay protector? That little plastic strip will get destroyed!

It's not plastic, it's neoprene (or whatever you call it), the stuff they make wet suits out of.

EDIT: Ah, sorry, I see what you mean, one that covers the entire chainstay........

They are oversize and have a 25mm rise.

The are very very light at only 170gm

The model is FSA K-Force Carbon and I use with a Race Face Deus stem which is 70mm and 6deg rise which is also extremely light, I think around 110gms.

Running Panaracer Rampage 26 rear and Razer MX folding front. Odd combination I know, but does work well for dry to damp single track/hardpack. Had a blast doing the Ladybower classic on Sun.

What's the best way to remove spoke reflectors? I want to remove mine but they seem to have some sort of anti-removal mechanism and I don't want to damage my spokes. :oops:

You should be able to remove them with a large'ish flat head screwdriver. There's a little gromit that you just undo anit-clockwise and the reflector shoud just pop off!
