FYI found the following when browsing for info on this years TDF and riders power output.

Contains logs of the first 10 stages of last years tour.

You need Cycle Peaks software to view it (link has an option to download trial).

For those with power meters (and even those without) think it makes interesting viewing. Two things strike me:
> Duration that the pros can keep high power going when they need to. e.g. on stage 10 (first day in Pyrenees) Jens Voigt pushed out 380-440W for a solid 60 mins in a break just after the start. That was before the race even got to the first real climb!
> Conversely how fast the pros can go for so little effort. e.g. for the first 4 hours of stage 3 Christian Vandevelde averaged 26mph at a comfortable 170W average(248W norm). I'm no pro but can match this power this long, but no way get close to the speed even when in (obviously badly organised!) groups.

It is bizzarre that going so fast for so little effort thing isn't it ? I've seen that in other records.

And since the power is measured from the bike, it can only come down to rolling or aero resistance. It hardly seems credible.

If you're riding in the peleton, you can get away with riding at 80% ftp with the drafting, when the leader is going 100%, and that's generally speaking.
It is for this reason that the top riders are shielded for most of each stage by the domestiques, so that they have bags of usable power ready for when they need it.
