... spent less time moaning about mountain bikers and getting on with your own lives, then maybe this would be a better place for everyone. most of you are making a very bad impression for new comers. I suggest you all get over it, it isn't going to change.

Surely all of the faults and ommissions will get fixed? That will be a major change. Surely the beta is going to end and go live at some time? That will be a major step forward.

having the forums how they used to be would be a step forwards too.

  • as a former poster of mbuk and c+, it's actually amusing watching the amount of moaning roadies do about MTBers compared to vice versa.
  • It's because they can't do wheelies.

(I had to be so terribly restrained in the "I almost learnt to ride no-handed!" thread. )
    Wheelies ARE cool.

That's because everyone knows the Road section belongs at the top of the forum. The roadies don't like it and the MTBers are just enjoying their temporary elevated status.

Does it? Why is that then?

it takes literally one flick of the mousewheel to scroll down. Presumably this will transpire as unnecessary wear and tear on your mouse and you will be claiming for a new one.

Again, I find myself wondering if this C+ geezer is for real. I'm afraid no matter how hard I try, I can't convince myself that he's just joking and can only come to the conclusion that he really is this pathetic.

Obviously the indoor track racing forum should be at the top, as that's the purest type of cycling, and bmx should be at the bottom.

I like that there's a whole thread of MTBers complaining about roadies in the road cycling section.

What difference does it make who's top, bottom,or in the middle. We are all cyclists of some description, and moaning over this new forum isnt helping anyone. What is it with some people as theres a lot of anger around on some boards just now. Can't we not just all get on.

Yeah, you are right. We are all cyclists of some description, but some describe themselves as real cyclists.
Anyway, no one comes in to Soapbox to agree with others, or has that changed too :?:

    I agree 100% - and I came from C+

A lot of the C+ people who moaned and jumped ship were, IMO, a bit of a cosy wee clique. I doubt if your enjoyment of life will be diminished by their departure.

Couldn't agree more. I was banned from the C+ Forum after i reacted (badly) to some very hostile and persistent trolling even though I complained to the mods several times. On the face of it I deserved to go as I used some inappropriate language for which I'm sorry but the instigators stayed, and that was wrong.

They are the same (self-important arrogant pseudo-intellectual) people who are complaining about the disruption to their cosy little world and have departed in a huff. :D Great!!!

This thing with MTB section etc and who should be where would be solved if there were no seperate sections at all. We are all of us the cycling community and should be seen as such.

I totally disagree. You road guys would never be able to keep a thread on the top two pages, because the following MTB questions get asked approximately 87 times a day:

    1) What bike should I buy for £300?
    2) What bike should I buy for £400?
    3) What bike should I buy for £500?

Red Lemon it was well known that the C+ forum was busier than the MBUKids and Whatmtb fora put together.

We have out own versions of them anyway ;)

Yeah, but once your lot cottoned on to how awesome it is to ride where you can absolutely guarantee there's not a chav in a corsa on the wrong side of the road, they'd all want to know what bike to buy for £300, £400 or £500

Depends what sort of off-road riding you intend to do.

A £300 MTB will do for Sustrans tracks or the trails at CenterParcs, but wouldn't last half an hour in the Peaks.

Depends how good at MTBing you are too, if all you've ever used is a £2grand 6" full suspension bike and you go straight to a fully rigid £300 MTB you're not going to have the skills* to cover a lot of the Peaks more technical bits.

If you're used to riding a fully rigid bike, then you're probably going to be fine taking a half decent £300 MTB round the majority (if not all) UK trails.

*NB - Before I get flamed, I'm not saying that 6" full suspension MTBers aren't skilled, just that the skills are different!
