Well, I've tried to convince my mate to go to this. It would be our first proper mtb experience but he's coming up with reasons he can't make it (working 17-hour days during the week is a pretty good excuse though).

If he really can't make it then I'm going to catch the train to Wrexham and then, hopefully, a taxi to the visitor's centre :)

Can anyone recommend a good taxi firm in Wrexham? I'll obviously have to de-wheel my bike to fit it in the boot, but that's not too much of an issue.

There is only really two ways to get there, one going via wrexham, the other coming from the other side, from more ruthin way. so there must be someone going via there.

I'm coming from Telford, switching trains at Shrewsbury (most likely!). Ther are quite a few people going but cars are full!

I really don't mind getting a taxi but I don't want to get ripped off or be in a dodgy car driven by a dodgy driver! There's a taxi firm based near Wrexham station, which would be great if they're a decent firm.

well, strictly speaking, that's not entirely correct.
This is how I get there. I don't pass Wrexham or Ruthin. To be honest though, both of them are close enough that a slight detour to either isn't a big deal.

Via Rossett and Llay on the country roads for me - Wrexham doesn't get a look in.

Mmm. going through Pontybodkin? Probably the prettiest route but likely to get stuck behind slow-moving traffic. And most definitely does not go anywhere near Wrexham or Ruthin.

Well we were going to go, but my riding buddy's bust his wrist, so i just went for a ride along the cycle network.
Unfortunately, I got caught out in the heaviest rain that I've ever seen. There was so much water in the air It was hard to breathe
And I got a puncture, and I'd not bought a pump or patches or anything along! (got help to fix it from a lovely Irish couple on a cycle touring holiday with their three kids)

Luckily we missed the worst of the rain!!!

Some poor bloke had a whyte 46 nicked whilst we were waiting outside, just walked up and rode off whilst the guy went to the toilet!
