Couldn't find the original WMB thread for the 22nd July ride at Llandegla, so thought it best to start another. Some members seem to be missing, assuming they haven't got round to signing up yet....... :)

Now that must be worth a fiver, not to tell the lovely lass what Fozz said!

Yeah, I asked about hire bikes and all they hire out are the Kona's outside. Would be nice if they hired out the 'proper bikes' even if it means leaving a big (returnable) deposit.
Methinks they are missing ouyt on a great opportunity there.....

Didn't realise this had gone live.

I'm still up for it. Went along yesterday for the Demo day but didn't get to do much riding, mostly hanging about waiting for bikes:(

Out of interest how many "non-whatmtb" members will be coming - this ride was originally arranged on the whatmtb forum and I have seen no recent posts with people comming, it would be nice to see some new guys and maybe we will slowly get a sense of community back on this forum?

Ratty - can you update the roll call?

I am still up for this but funds may put the mokkers on it. If I can camp and get someone to come with me (en-route pickup, from near Slough) to share petrol costs, that would help.

May try to sweet-talk my bro-in-law and sis this weekend into lending me their VW camper, would save me a lot of trouble if weather is as pants as it has been.

Just arrived with a new id after a load of hassle getting across. I'm still up for the ride on the 22nd. Rode Llandegla on Tuesday and did the black run for the first time, quite easy really and no serious problems apart from the long drag back up. Also managed to ride the nasty log section in one go for the first time - still life in the old dog at 46 :D

TBH, last time i went, the last black section, first double, line was wrong, i went knee first into the rock bank to the left. needless to say, its taken over a month to heal, and i've invested in some knee pads.

It hurt like heck, and really, it was fine until i got home, and cleaned it up. the gashes were full of llandegla grit and mud.

i really wanna get back there now, with my ST tyres to give me more grip than i was getting last time.

i ended up understeering in many a corner.

Looks like it will just be me taking the muddy detour around those logs. I've only done the black once and as you say, it's not that difficult - I found the down hill bits in someways easier than the reds as the trail is smoother.

    See you on Sunday.
